Pollution controls reshape Carbon County environment and waste rules
In Carbon County efforts to meet state and federal standards focus on pollution control. Major firms like Monsanto Kerr McGee Corp Simplots and Agricultural Products Corp spend heavily to clean furnace fumes. Cities must test culinary water monthly and curb contamination. A sanitary landfill will operate under state regulation, private dumps barred, open burning restricted. Grace and Soda Springs consider ordinances. Grace already limits burning. Open burning questions remain for farming railroads and forestry. Environmental Health Service will push livestock owners to keep animals away from streams, implying costly changes. Community thanks express gratitude for support during bereavement. Family of Dennis Williams

School Open Drive Carefully Warns Idaho Drivers
Ken Miller of the Idaho State Automobile Association urges motorists to slow for school zones as schools reopen. Watch for school speed limits signs, stop for stopped school buses, and protect young pedestrians especially in noon hours. Parents should plan safe routes and teach see and be seen rules. An editor's note ends with a quip about elevator operators.
