The Eastern Idaho State Fair in Blackfoot hosts the first Call to Carcass Beef Program with live steers evaluated by three man teams on Sept 6 and carcasses graded Sept 11. Ed Buren notes the program measures conformation growth yield and market value to boost beef quality for consumers.
Steers in the Calf to Carcass Beef Program must come from a herd enrolled in a recognized beef cattle improvement program. The steers have been on an official 160 day test at Handing Livestock and Land Co. feed yard in Blackfoot.
Eleven miles south of Grace on State Highway 34 David Evert Prescott left the road while driving north about 3 AM Aug 20. He received minor injuries and the Barracuda did not overturn, traveling over 350 feet in a barrow pit. Damages estimated at 1500 dollars. Investigation by Sheriff Ralph J Marriott.
