North Gem School District announces the new academic year begins Monday August 27. Lunch prices vary by grade and adult meals. Bus routes largely mirror last year with Ivins area served by Lund through Central. A list of staff and coaches is provided and a wrestling coach will be named later.
All portions of North Gem School District invited to attend an open house Sunday August 26 from 2 to 4 pm. Improvements include elementary classrooms high school and elementary offices and Vocational Agriculture building. School employees will assist and light refreshments served by FHA.

Leo Lovita, acting plant manager during Crouse's vacation, says the 36 hour shutdown is the second in four weeks and more cuts may follow through September. Production dropped about ten percent this month. no immediate layoffs expected. Staff shifted to repair work. The plant and FMC in Pocatello rely on interruptible power and are the first to be affected, though residences and other Utah Power and Light customers are not currently impacted.
Idaho officials report Soda Springs received 2,549.01 from the Federal Bureau of Outdoor Recreation for Hooper Springs Park project. The grant, part of BOR Land and Water Conservation funding, brings Idaho totals to over 8.6 million. Hooper Springs, with a 53,000 cost, aims for completion this fall.
Richard Dean Hutchison 23 of Soda Springs died in a Sunday August 19 head on collision on US 30 east of Soda Springs 56 miles. Dennis Archibald 19 and Jerry Lakey 2 were injured and treated at area hospitals. Hutchison crossed into Lakey’s lane causing the crash. Funeral services scheduled for August 24 at Payne Funeral Chapel Burlis Idaho. Rich attended Seca Springs High School and served in the LS Mans.
