Registration Dates Set For Soda High School

Soda Springs District No. 150 announces registration for Soda Springs High School from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. next Monday through Thursday for seniors and juniors with fee of 13 dollars due at registration. School opens Tuesday, Aug. 29 with buses on regular routes and hot lunch served.

Tragic Accident Claims Life Of Soda Springs Man

Dennis C. Williams, 24, of Soda Springs, died after a front end loader rolled down Woodall Mountain at J R Simplot in Conda. Sheriff Ralph Marriott said the 11:35 am accident threw Williams from the vehicle as the seat torn loose. An autopsy was underway to determine the death cause. He is survived by his wife Lynnette and a small daughter. Funeral services are planned.

Registration at North Gem Starts Monday August 21

North Gem High School opens registration on Monday August 21 from 8 am to 4 pm or Tuesday August 22 from 9 am to noon. Activity fees due at registration. Teaching staff assignments include Elsa Jenkins first grade and several other grade levels and subjects across the campus. Weekend visitors to Soda Springs included Mr and Mrs Ron Schaeffer and family from Logan Utah and Larry J Smith from Payette.

Soda Springs City Softball Tournament Opens Thursday

The Soda Springs City Softball Tournament begins Thursday at City Park with eight teams in a double elimination format. First round matchups include Blocks against KERY at 6:00 pm, Grace versus Eastman at 7:15 pm, D and T versus Fourth Ward at 8:30 pm, and City against Simplot at 9:45 pm. The event continues Friday and Saturday to crown a champion.

Grace High School field lighting project progresses

Grace City Council allocated 1000 dollars toward a fund to install lighting for two softball diamonds and the football field at Grace High. The effort, supervised by the student council and supported by numerous donors, aims to complete the lighting project with community backing.

Coleman earns Master of Science in applied statistics at USU

Mila Lynn Coleman of Cincinnati Ohio completed the Master of Science in applied statistics at Utah State University Logan Utah. Her thesis is A Two Sample Test of the Reliability Performance of Equipment Components. She is Phi Kappa Phi member Alpha Lambda Delta and won the A Scholarship pin. She earned a bachelor's in mathematics at USU in 1971 and affiliated with Delta Delta Delta. She and her husband Michael Terry Coleman of Soda Springs will live in Walnut Creek California.

DUP Convention Daughters of Utah Pioneers Set in Chesterfield

The DUP county convention meets Thursday August 31 at 10 a.m. in the DUP building in Chesterfield near the old LDS church. Mrs Cynova and visiting relatives spent the weekend with Uncle Al Cynova in Soda Springs and toured Yellowstone Park with Shawn Galle of Farmington New Mexico.

Malad wins Soda Springs Pony Invitational in rain delayed final

Malad defeats Idaho Falls 5 to 1 to claim the Pony League title at Soda Springs. Two home runs with one on base iced the victory after a two hour rain delay as volunteers and city workers restored the field.

Miss Sheila Ryan is Caribou County's new Extension Home Economist effective August 14. Announced by Ruth Spidahl state home economics leader at the University of Idaho, Ryan is a Montana native and Whitworth College graduate with a BS in Home Economics and Elementary Education. She previously worked as a Home Service Representative for Columbia Gas in Charleston, West Virginia, producing TV and radio segments.

Football uniforms issued Friday August 18 at Soda Springs High

Cow Cutting Results At Bailey Creek Near Soda Springs

The third annual Cow Cutting contest at Bailey Creek recreational complex near Soda Springs drew riders from Arizona Colorado Utah and Idaho. National High School Champion Mike Mowery won open class aboard Missey Hankey with two go rounds and led by other winners including Roy Corbett Tawney Sue and Tinky Espada. A dutch oven steak dinner was provided for attendees.
