Local Woman Honored At State Licensed Practical Nurses Meet

Beulah Moore, charter member of the Licensed Practical Nurses Association, received a ribbon rose and a Florence Nightingale lamp at the 25th annual convention at Boise State College. She has 31 years of service in local hospitals. Eight charter members attended, including four from Soda Springs: Elsie Woodall Isabel Beus Norma Matthews and Mrs Moore. Other attendees included Mary Meiners Phyllis Olson and Barbara Olson. The event featured a seminar student day with 124 students and 170 LPNs, followed by business and program sessions and a tour of the Mountain States Tumor Institute.

Call for Soda Springs High football prospects

Freshmen to seniors from Soda Springs High School are urged to attend a 7:00 PM meeting in the school gym to meet the new coaching staff and receive pre season instructions. Conditioning workouts precede the August 21 first practice and must be arranged at the meeting. Physical exams and insurance coverage are required or provided through the school.

New Officer Joins Soda Police Staff in Grace Fair

Grace Fair schedule lists Officer Earsel H. Christensen joining the Soda Springs Police, with prior service at Pocatello PD and US Air Force. Democratic Senate hopeful Rose Bowman campaigned briefly in Canbon County Boise area meeting residents on the Soda Springs street scene. She urged a shift to humane capitalism with planning and say a 20 percent referendum path to Congress on issues to let people decide.

Soda Springs All Stars rallied from an opening loss to Logan with three late inning comebacks defeating Jerome Aberdeen and Preston to win the consolation championship. Rexburg beat Logan in the final and earned top honors as Rexburg first, Logan second, Soda Springs third, Preston fourth.

Funds Allocated for Hooper Spring Park Development

Earl Gunnell, chairman of the State Parks Board, announced a $7 530 71 check to Soda Springs for Hooper Spring Park work. The payment funds picnic facilities fencing water system and part of site improvements under the Land and Water Conservation Fund with 50 percent federal match. The full project will exceed 50 000 and create a recreated outdoor area with picnic sites toilets multipurpose court and sprinkler system.

Seven Winners In Hunt Drawings For Idaho Permits

Idaho held its first 1972 controlled animal hunt drawings at the Fish and Game headquarters in Boise with a large crowd. Moose permits totaling 118 were drawn from 2 923 applications, sheep permits 89 from 604 applications, and goat permits 313 from 1 605 goat applications. Vandalism at Fairven Cemetery in Soda Springs desecrated up to 25 new graves on July 21 and 26. Vases broken, flowers scattered, grave markers pulled, and bicycles ridden over. Police consider restricting vehicular traffic at certain times to halt further destruction.

Bancroft Man Retires From Gen Mills Elevator

Raymond L Maughan retires after 36 years as General Mills Elevator manager in Bancroft. He served as a mechanic for North Gem School District and held LDS Church positions. The Maughan family includes six children and 12 grandchildren. Gordon Yost became Bancroft manager on Aug 1.
