Chapel Service Opens with Singing and Class Officer Elections

Chapel services were held Monday morning with the congregation singing America the Beautiful and Morning Bells. Devotionals were read by Miss Warren and the sophomore and junior class elections were held Friday during activity period to elect officers for the Sophomore and Junior classes.

Lunch cafeteria opens as Wyandot fair approaches

Miss Heath supervises the new lunch cafeteria opened last Thursday serving appetizing menus at low cost. School will dismiss Friday September 19 for the annual Wyandot county fair. New pictures were hung in the Col Crawford building this week, purchased with funds from last spring art exhibit.

Lamberjack Shultz Nuptials Tie Off at Our Lady of Consolation

Miss Blanche M. Lamberjack daughter of Mr and Mrs Nicholas Lamberjack northwest of town wed Richard M Shultz son of Mr and Mrs Peter Shultz in a ring ceremony during nuptial high mass at Our Lady of Consolation officiated by Rev Fr Paul Vollrath with Sister M Mercede on organ. The couple left for a motor trip through Michigan and to Niagara Falls after a four course dinner for about 80 relatives and friends.

Findlay Bank Sits Buy Buckeye Assets and Dividend

American First National Bank of Findlay bought all Buckeye Commercial Savings assets on Saturday. A 60 percent dividend on Buckeye claims will start within two weeks. R. J. Berry of Ohio Oil Co. is elected president, succeeding the late A B Eoff. O. D. Donnell of Ohio Oil Co. becomes chairman of the board.

Frederick Buzard Injured in Car Collision

Mrs Homer Buzard went to Mansfield to care for Frederick Buzard the eldest son of Homer Buzard who lives with grandparents in Plymouth. He jumped from a running board into a speeding car suffering three fractures of the skull and a badly injured wrist along with other bruises. Doctors hope for his recovery and two special nurses attend him. Frederick has visited Carey often at his father’s home.

Funeral services for Undertaker F Sutter were held Saturday at 2 PM at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul Cloiser and assistants officiating. Pallbearers included H B Keller and R D Perkins among others. burial followed in Spring Grove Cemetery. Attendance was noted as the largest ever in Carey with many relatives and friends present from Toledo Columbus Cincinnati Richmond Magnetic Springs Findlay Fort Wayne Rawson Delphos Mansfield and other areas.

School Bus Loading Regulations and Penalty Notice

The law requires school bus drivers to load and unload at the extreme right of the road or at a right curb if available. Violations are a misdemeanor with fines from 10 to 100 dollars or up to 30 days imprisonment or both.

Burial for Carol Mitchell in Carey church service

The body of Carol Mitchell of Woodville will be brought here for burial. Funeral services are set for 2:00 PM at St. John's church northwest of Carey. Mitchell, son of Dave Mitchell, died from injuries after trying to leap onto a truck. a dispatch reports a search for the driver.

A large group of first year students started school last week in Carey Public Schools. Virgil Louis Schlachter and Miss Mary Schlachter of Frenchtown were married Monday at St. Nicholas Church Frenchtown in a 9 00 a m high mass conducted by Rev Fr Williams. The bride wore a pink georgette gown with pink veil and carried pink roses and delphiniums. The groom is the son of Mr and Mrs George Thiel of Kirby. After the ceremony they began a two week East trip and will settle on a farm near Kirby.

Flower Home asks church ladies to fill jars for mission

The Flower Home of Toldeo sends a barrel of empty jars to the Home Missionary Society asking each lady to take one jar home and fill it with fruit or pickles or another food and return it before month end. Auto Struck by Train Near Big Four Tracks

Auto driven by C. E. Pflueger was hit by a freight train backing across South street on the Big Four tracks at about 6:00 PM. The caboose struck the rear of the car, badly damaging the fender but causing no injuries to Pflueger.

Joint Missionary Meeting Brings Women Together

The Woman's Home and Foreign Missionary Society and the Jennie Iar month Society of the Lutheran church held a joint session in the church reception room last Wednesday evening. Mrs. F. A. Galbroner led, with devotionals by Mrs. Sadie Kennerley and a lesson on Our Inner Mission Task by Miss Reva Dame. Mrs. Nettie Davison of Detroit and charter members recalled early days, while solos by Mrs. Ross Johnson and by Miss Oleafa Peterson and Miss Melva Weininger added to the program. Dainty refreshments were served by a committee led by Mrs. I. L. Culler.

Linus North owns an old copper 1739 coin from George II era likely a penny found with a NYC excavation crew. His hoard includes foreign laborer gifts from a stone quarry plus a 2 ore Scandinavian piece a 1915 English penny a Canadian cent a French sou and five centime a German heller and a 10 pfennig. Some coins are worth only fractions of a cent.

Vanlue Horses Win Pulling Contest at Fremont Fair

A team of dappled gray geldings owned by Everett Lee Vanlue won the heavy weight open pulling contest at the Fremont fair. The team pulled 3100 pounds, about a 20 percent starting pull on granite pavement. Huston of Greenwich won the under 3000 pound class, and Carnicom won the 3000 to 3400 pound division.

Horse Trench Accident Injures Worker in Ohio Street

Last Thursday Elza Garn, working in an Ohio Fuel Gas Co. trench on W North street, was struck by the hoof of a horse belonging to Joe Cox when the animal fell into the trench. Garn has since been unable to work.
