Isaac Cole personal estate valued at 3471.17 reported by appraisers George Bland Charles Lutz and George Stephan. Also notes deaths lawsuits real estate transfers and local trials plus a band concert scare caused by a car exhaust at the court house.
Gertrude Sloman daughter of Louis Sloman aged eighteen died after several weeks of heart trouble and other illnesses. She is survived by her father three brothers Fred William Cyrus Sloman and two sisters Mrs Nora Brashares and Mrs Mary Youngpeter. Funeral held Saturday at home with Rev W J Hagerman of the M E church officiating. Pall-bearers six young men and six honorary pall-bearers carried flowers.
Last Friday at the Hocking Valley railroad crossing on Main Street, ten year old Frank Drummonds and nine year old John Phillips were struck by moving freight cars. Frank died Saturday after emergency surgery. John survived initial injuries but died that afternoon. Funeral services were held Monday at Crawford M E Church with burial in nearby Ritchie Cemetery.
The Monday night meeting included mayor Won der and council members Angus, Ryder, Washburn, Heck, Dunlap and Blue. Bills paid totaled various workers and services, plus 2,500 for Main street cluster lights and requests for flagmen at Hocking Valley and South street Big Four crossings.
The Baker Ward reunion at the park drew about 165 people on Monday. A dinner and program featured male quartet performances by J. B. Moore Carl Mitchell Clinton Baker and W J Baker. Officers elected included R P Ward as president A J Ward as vice president Nelson Wickiser as secretary and W J Baker as treasurer. The 1915 reunion is set for the park on the second Thursday in August.
S B Beitler returns from Platte Lake with his son Brooks of Chicago. He caught a sixteen pound pike that measured forty three inches in length during the trip.
The W C T U will meet with Mrs T M Johnston Friday at two o'clock. The agenda includes the election of officers for the coming year. All members are asked to attend.
On Wednesday Isaac Johnson Joel Batenfield A Gibbs Robert Gregg and John Greek attended the reunion of the 49th O Iat in Fostoria Ohio.
The public schools opened for classification Monday and began full work Tuesday with an enrollment just over 350. Grade figures show first through eighth and high school counts, and the teaching staff lists include principal C. A. Hoskinson and teachers from several towns with assignments across grades and subjects.
Pietro Pieracinni learned of his brother Josephs sudden death after a car crash left him with a fractured skull. He traveled that evening to Jewett City Kansas to attend the funeral.
We thank neighbors and friends for kindness and help during our mother’s death. Special thanks to the singers and those who sent flowers. Mr and Mrs Geo Shuman.
Coral Stevens sold several autos last week including Saxons to Ralph Williams Dr F L Moyer Ross Patterson A J King and W H Phelps. A Ford touring car was sold to J T Summers of Tiffin.
