Supt. Beitler addresses parents in a vigorous appeal to raise standards and unite with teachers for a successful school year. He denounces apathy, stresses teamwork, parental support, and honest dialogue, and urges visits to schools to witness progress under the Board of Education and teachers.
A party from Mt Blanchard and area gathered at the park last Thursday. Attendees included Mr. and Mrs. H. F. Graves, Mr. and Mrs. W S Bish and daughter Alma, Mr. and Mrs. J. D. Ewing and son Robert, Mrs. M. A. Straw and daughter Lucy, Mrs. W. S. Shoe maker, Miss Jeanette DeWitt, and Miss Gladys Kennetley, among others.
Mrs. Loren Stahl entertained the Nineteen Hundred Club last Friday at dinner. Miss Mary Newhard and Miss Gladys Kemerley assisted in serving. After dinner bridge was played. Guests included Mrs. L. A. Kemerley, Mrs. James Ogg, and Miss Gladys Flick of Bluffton.
Read of August marriage licenses issued by Judge Rowland and a busy county calendar. Topics include new school examiner board, joint ditch session at Marion, Ford and river region incidents, births and deaths, courthouse cases set for September, and local fires, autos, and a circus advertising car visit.
Dorcas Dow youngest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. J. C. Dow wed Gail Kurtz second son of Mr. and Mrs. W. R. Kurtz at the bride's home with Rev. J. W. Gibson officiating. The couple plan to establish housekeeping in Columbus as the groom attends the State University.
Zitella Anna Pahl died Sunday at 12 20 p m after two weeks of pneumonia and whooping cough. She was the daughter of Mr and Mrs S W Pahl of Ardmore Addition and leaves a sister Mildred. Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon with Rev HB Schultz of the United Evangelical church officiating. Pallbearers were three cousins and an aunt Thelm Sopher Cyrissa and Hestge Nye of Marion and Bertha Nye of Carey.
Mr and Mrs. George Gund and Mr. and Mrs. Jacob Gund of Cleveland entertainedSunday guests including Mr and Mrs. W A Burk of Upper Sandusky Mr and Mrs B F Thome and son Clarence and Mr Samuel Ash from east of town and Miss Rose Uhirich near Lovell at their home.
