George Reis spent the week at the state fair on duty with the treasurer’s department as gate keeper. Attendance was large and receipts reached nearly one hundred thousand dollars, marking a record for the association. Exhibits were strong though not as good as last year.
Tred Rowalt has been in the city this week. He had been in Boston on business with the W. L. Douglas Shoe Co. traveling in the west. He was returning to his home in Denver, Colorado. He has new territory to develop, so Mrs. Rowalt and the children will remain with Mrs. Rowalt's mother for a time.
Rev. Brackney led a Sunday evening quarterly meeting at Lovell with inspiring services. A large congregation attended, about thirty took communion, eight new members joined, and twelve were baptized. Columbia Graphophones were available at the New Pharmacy.
The Rev Father J G Mizer lists Sunday services with Low Mass at 8:00 am High Mass at 10:00 am Instructions at 2:30 pm Vespers at 3:00 pm all in sun time. Mr C C Kisselle and son Kenneth and F H Frederick traveled to Findlay Friday in Fredericks car. Mrs Kisselle and her son will stay two weeks in Findlay for Kenneth to get special medical care.
Ww. H. Greek of near Mt. Blanchard visited town on Saturday to meet his son Frank from Battle Creek Michigan. Frank is an engineer who oversees an engine used in a steam laundry and winter heating for several blocks of buildings.
Mrs. Ed Calmes and her children Jefferson and Anna left last Thursday for their home in Goldfield Colorado after spending several months at the home of Mrs Calmes brother Charley Ogg north of town.

Wyandot County reports include St Pauls Lutheran organ purchase for 2150 dollars by Moller Organ Co, county officers Bolish and Frederick.
The Starr reunion gathered last Thursday at George W. Starrs home south of the city. Attendees included D. F. Meiner and family, Alton Phillips and family, Mrs F. M. Starr, Joseph Starr, Mack Starr, George R. Starr, George W. Starr and wife, and Miss Maude Starr. An afternoon program of songs and recitations by the children followed a social day.
A Plymouth Rock pullet hatched last March began laying eggs early and on Saturday hatched ten chicks. The bird has entered a notable brood production. Albert Bloom visited his son Fred at Marion on Sunday.
The Carey Post No 173 Ohio G A R notes the death of Charles Hummell and extends condolences to his sisters. The resolutions request journal publication in the Carey Times and 30 days of mourning, with signatures by G W Starr and George Huff.
Findlay District Epworth League met last week at the Howard Street M E Church in Findlay. Attendees from this city included Rev. W J Green Miss Martha Martin Miss Helen Lantz May Cosgray and Russell Nowlan. Papers under Making Christ King were read with Cosgray presenting Christ Enthroned in Society.
Mrs. W. H. Whitney of Tulsa and her daughter Miss Bess visited Mr. and Mrs. John Shireman last Tuesday. They plan to return later this week and will be joined by Mrs. Whitney's sister Mrs. H. B. Crist for a several month stay.
Frank Gibbs of Newark New Jersey surprised his father and relatives Monday morning. He is on a two week vacation and will stay in the area, having left Carey five years ago in October. He traveled with his son Richard who resides in Vineland New Jersey, and with his sister Mrs. Mary Edson.
Christian Science Services will be held Sunday at 10:15 am with the subject Substance. A testimony meeting is planned Wednesday at 7:45 pm at Newhard Block North Vance St.
Rufino Iborguen, noted Banco Occidente Guatemala branch manager and prominent financier, was shot dead in his Guatemala City home. Juan Molino, a former employee’s brother, is named as the killer.
The annual reunion of Company I, 9th O V C, will be held at Henry Karr’s home in Crawford on Saturday September 16. Members are urged to attend and rekindle wartime memories.
The Sunday School at 900 a m will study Daniel and The Companions. The teachers report and mission giving will be shared. The pastor preaches at 1015, with redirection of old wells as a topic. Miss Leah Ascham presides over Christian Athletics and humanity’s warfare. A junior baptism is noted. A board meeting Friday 7 30 in A E Gibb’s office. Prayer meeting and teachers meeting Wednesday evening. Rev Charles Ketcham will speak on teachers’ training. All teachers invited.
The B. G. C. Club of Adrian hosted a farewell for Vera Mullholand as she leaves for Oberlin College. Guests enjoyed games and dancing late, with music by Mrs. Guy Greer Fred Ringheisen and Ralph Green. Dainty refreshments were served. Miss Margaret Lawhead of Fostoria attended as an out of town guest.
A playful monologue from a stamp describing a journey from a perfumed pink envelope to a girl with blue eyes. The stamp endures a hammer blow, travels two days, and ends up in a lover's bosom as she reads the note inside. The tale ends with the stamp cherishing its two center life and affectionate moments.
