Carey Shuffleboard Club Holds Busy August Tourney Schedule

The Carey Shuffleboard Club held tournaments on Friday August 19 with Dorcas Donelson and Clarence Reinhart winning the upper bracket and Mary Shiley with Pearle Orians prevailing in consolations. A Tuesday August 23 single tournament saw Elmer Lawrence beat Reed Steen in the upper bracket. Monthly rounds continued through August 26 and 30 with multiple winners and consolations, plus members attending Lakeside Ohio Toledo events.

Republican Women Meet At Harpster Hall

Wyandot County Woman's Republican Club held a Thursday meeting at Harpster Methodist Fellowship Hall with 36 members present. Speaker Lloyd George Kerns discussed subversive influences in civil rights and warned against tyranny, urging lawful reform and warning against communism. A memorial tribute honored Daryl R. Corfman killed in Vietnam, and plans for a dance and social at the Elks in Upper Sandusky on October 6 were announced.

On August 31 Mr and Mrs Orion Wilgus celebrated 25 years of marriage with a silver anniversary trip to Niagara Falls and a surprise party at home arranged by daughter Sharon. Relatives attended including Cy Baker and Beckie, Dorothy, David Dible, C J Rutter, Gary Woods, Don Woods, and Bob.

Car Backing Incident Injures Two in Upper Sandusky

At 9 05 p m Monday a car driven by Hugh L McDaniel backed into a parked car owned by M Kirkland Moreland near Vogel's Shoe Store on South Sandusky Avenue causing damage to the Moreland vehicle. The McDaniel car then struck a southbound vehicle driven by Roscoe Keller Kuenzli and backed into Upper Drug injuring Marsha and Oddie McDaniel. McDaniel cited for improper backing.
