The local W T C U met Friday with Mrs J C Dow in the chair. Mrs Dow and Mrs Bradley reported on the Toledo convention. Mrs Dow, vice president of the county, will succeed Mrs Nellie B Walton of Sycamore who died last Friday leaving the presidency vacant.
Mrs A L Walton of Sycamore died Friday afternoon. A prominent county figure she served as president of the W C T U and chaired the democratic central committee in 1920. Funeral was held Monday with mourners from Carey and nearby areas attending.
The lock in Johnson and Miller's annex will be changed on November 1 1921. All storage car owners are requested to call at the office and obtain a new key.
Wyandot probate court granted licenses on Thursday to Walter Gohl a farmer of Salem township and Miss Florence Pfiefer daughter of Jacob Pfiefer and to Carl Dardinger a Hardin county laborer and Miss Clara Lodge daughter of Philip Lodge with reverends Theo Mittermaier and J R Colley officiating.
The C L of C will host a banquet for Kiwanis Club members wives and guests next Tuesday at 6 30 PM in Catholic Hall. Members are asked to attend on short notice and be present Tuesday morning to prepare. For details call Home Phone Y 216.
Carey played a splendid game Sunday defeating the Freeport Hoosiers 26 to 0. The win earned a nice writeup in the Toledo Blade. Next Sunday Bucyrus visits Carey for the next game.
H L Tracy purchases and plans improvements at the Strand Theatre including a high powered GE exhaust fan and a new $2200 Orchestral Piano from Rudolph Wurlitzer. Tracy travels to Cleveland with Mr Powell to book fifty top productions for the season headlined by Wallace Reid Chaplin Pickford Fairbanks and more.
A Kenton letter from October 20, 1921 asks Mayor Almon Bilwe who made Carey street signs and their cost after noting nearby city distances on lamps and signs. The Kiwanis Club of Kenton requests return mail with the details or to forward to Carey’s Kiwanis head.
Prof W G A Tressler from Hamma Divinity School Springfield preached at morning services last Sunday. A large congregation heard Rev Tressler a prominent figure in the United Lutheran Church of America. Sunday school next Sunday at 9 00. Morning worship at 10 15 led by F A Metzger of Springfield. An Old Time Revival service will be held at St Pauls United Evangelical Church starting November 6 at 7 00 p m Rev B F West of Roscoe will assist He is described as a live wire and urged not to miss hearing him Parishioners are encouraged to pray.
Forty Hours Devotion began at Our Lady of Consolation church Monday at 7 30 a m and ends Tuesday at 7 30 p m with continuous prayer and adoration.

At the Kiwanis luncheon plans were laid for the Carey club charter ceremony to be held Tuesday November 4 at Catholic Hall. Frank Burkhart Lima mayor will speak and Mrs Francis C Poling Mansfield district governor will present the charter. A banquet, music, and stunts are planned with invites to nearby clubs and their spouses. Resolutions favored a state bond measure for veterans and urged noon close on Armistice Day for Legion football events.
The Past Chiefs of the Pythian Sisters will hold an installation on November 3 followed by a pot luck dinner. All Past Chiefs are invited to attend.
Last week concluded the retreat observed by the Friars Minor Conventual at the shrine. The event marked a period of reflection and religious practice for the order at a sacred site.
