Returned from Europe after long voyage with delegates

Frank Zimmerman of Billings Montana spent a week at the home of Mrs August Peter and daughter Elinora north of town. He was cousin to the late Mr Peter and traveled with 246 delegates to the Lafayette statue unveiling at Metz Alsace costing 60000 dollars. Zimmerman toured France Alsace Lorraine Switzerland Monte Carlo and Spain and visited Rome Paris and Rome battlefields cemeteries and Columbus grave. He witnessed a bombing incident that spared a sister of Mr Peters.

Tragic Marion Proprietor Found Dead in Burning Car

Charles M. Coonrod a 52 year old Marion garage owner was found dead Sunday in his burning automobile eight miles south of Marion on the Columbus road. Coroner C L Baker ruled death from external causes suggesting possible foul play. Eight dollars were found on the body and $300 in cash was reported missing from his clothes. Two Marion men who discovered the blaze said they sighted a large car speeding toward the scene earlier along the Columbus road.

Carey City Team defeated Bradner 13 to 0 on the local field. Bradner showed effort but failed to match Carey’s teamwork and precision as Carey acted like clockwork on defense and offense throughout the game.

Auto overturns near Crawford church injures driver

On Saturday forenoon Bert Redmond of the Nume China Co. lost control at the Crawford church corner and the coupe overturned. He suffered noticeable bruises and left that day for home in Ravenni.

Carey Hi defeated Forest Hi 20 to 0 at National Lime and Stone Co field. Carey scored a quick touchdown early. Forest Hi threatened near Carey’s goal but could not convert. This was the season opener, following a 13 to 6 loss to Forest Hi earlier.

Family welcomes newborns in St Paul and nearby towns

A one pound son to Mr and Mrs L W Copley of St Paul Wednesday. Albert Lee named. A son to Mr and Mrs Ross Draper Saturday at the home of Draper’s parents at Kernton. Twins born Sunday near New Riegel, one pound boy and one pound girl.

Frederick Tease plans move and remodel of Eichelberger block

Frederick Tease will relocate to the Eichelberger block formerly occupied by George Montague's barber shop near T and W McClure's news stand. The second story front will be altered and the entire building remodeled under a new front. The Maccabee Halk is referenced in the plan.

Buried Tuesday of Man Killer Week

The body of the unidentified man killed earlier this week by a Hocking train was buried Tuesday in Ritchie Cemetery. The grave remained unidentified at burial.

Armistice Day Observed in Carey with Parade and Game

A large Carey crowd marked Armistice Day with an 11 am bell and whistle ritual, a parade led by the Carey-Upper Sandusky band, and 50 World War I veterans. Prosecuting Attorney A K Hall spoke in the rain at Main and Patterson. In the afternoon the Toledo Senecas defeated Carey 13 to 0 in a crowd of 600+, with gate receipts over 300 dollars for the Legion.

Rally Attendees Visit Marion for Maccabees Event

Angus George Perkins Franklin Criger and Julius Katz attended a Marion district Maccabees rally last Saturday. Nearly 200 were received into the lodge and a chicken supper was served at the YoM Co. The supreme commander and the Ohio supreme record keeper joined the program and degree work. R S Cox returned for a five week drive to recruit new members.

Bazaar at Catholic Hall Raises Funds for Street Paving

Despite bad weather a large crew attended the bazaar and supper at Our Lady of Consolation parish hall. Proceeds go toward paving the street in front of the church. The bazaar and supper close this evening.

Death of Robert James Corran

Mr and Mrs George Corran mourn the death of their four month old son Robert James Corran. Laurel Lanning, Albert Howland, and C Howland were among those called to Leipzig by the death. The funeral was held Monday.
