United Evangelical Missions Meeting Notes

The W H F M S of the United Evangelical church met Tuesday afternoon with Mrs S S Hart. Devotionals were led by Mrs Elza Jacobs and a duet by Mrs Jacobs and Mrs Lewis Hart. The Missionary Creed was read in concert and Mrs Henry Damon led the lesson on The Reach of the Church. A leaflet The Last Thank Offering Boxes was read by Mrs A Eshelman and Mrs George Perkins gave Is it Fair a reading. Next meeting is the third Tuesday in December with Viola Goulter leading the program committee.

Local High School Vocational Class Plans Corn Show

Preliminary plans for a corn show are being prepared by Mr Miller and the boys in the Vocational Agriculture course at the local high school. Final details will be announced later.

Fair Board Election Meeting and Nominations

A Fair Board meeting will elect members at the courthouse on November 26. Nomination from Tymothree township Richland Salem and Upper Sandusky are to be elected. Any member wishing to present nominations should send them to Secretary Ira Matteson before November 24.

Kiwanis Resolution Urges Immediate Disarmament Steps

The Kiwanis Club of Carey Ohio passes a noonday resolution urging the Washington disarmament conference to pursue strict armament limits and universal disarmament. It calls for banning submarine and aerial weapons and chemical agents, public disclosure of future accords, and a duty to prevent future wars. Signed by President W. J. Newhard and Secretary H. E. Snyder.

Methodist Missions Meet at Mrs Cosgray Home

The Home Missionary Society of the Methodist church gathered last Thursday afternoon with singing scripture reading and prayer. Members presented poems and readings and a piano duet. Membership dues totaling 81.60 were received and Group No 3 will host the next meeting.

Otto Kenney Killed in Terre Haute Auto Crash

Former Carey boy Otto Kenney a clothing merchant in Summits was killed in an auto accident in Terre Haute Saturday. He will be buried Tuesday afternoon at Woodlaws with services at Boyer Kruses mortuary at 2 oclock. The body was brought to Toledo Monday. He leaves his widow Mabel daughter Isabelle his father Charles and brothers Walter Fayette Stanley Chester P and Floyd and sister Mrs Frank Moorman with addresses listed.

Arrest Report Two Drunk Men From Toledo

Monday Marshal C. M. Brown arrested two men for drunkenness. The suspects had recently arrived from Toledo to work on the Hocking Valley extra gang and spent the night in jail sobering off.

Kiwanis Club Discusses Charter Presentation

At a Monday Kiwanis luncheon members covered routine business with good attendance and high spirits. Interest focused on the Upper Sandusky charter celebration set for Wednesday November 16, with many Carey Kiwanians planning to attend and a sizable delegation expected.

Clerk Moves Into New Chamber Office

Co. N Cosgray, clerk of the Board of Affairs, moved into the new office in the Chamber of Commerce room on Tuesday. The space was freshly paneled with linoleum flooring, a snug room fitted with furniture from the Realty Co. and the Chamber, and a wooden partitioned center with a front pay window for patrons.

Armistice Day Event Ends With Legion Losses

The American Legion boys held Armistice Day observances amid bad weather. A small crowd watched the Legion football team lose to Bradner Bear Cats 13 to 0 at the library square. A Moose Hall dance drew good attendance. RD Perkins is building a shed for John Shumaker in Salem Township after Shumaker's barn burned earlier.
