School Band and Sports Begin at Local Chapel
Monday morning the Chapel activities included a band in charge, scripture by Betty Allen, and announcements by Mr Huffman. The band played pieces such as The Star Spangled Banner and Stars and Stripes Forever. Girls basketball practice started with about 32 girls under Miss Ryan. both girls and boys physical education began last week led by Miss Ryan and Mr Kingsmore.

Lucas County report says attorney Samuel J Walters died after a tire blowout caused a car to leave the road and overturn near Crawford church at about 4 40 pm. Others in the party were injured. Walters leaves a wife and two sons Vincent 17 Elliot 12. The victims were from Columbus and all black. Walters headed Walters Warfield law firm and chaired the Colored Democratic Committee of Columbus. He had Ohio State University law degree 1928. Body moved to Golf funeral home then to F F Whittaker mortuary Columbus. Holston later returned there by ambulance.
