Carey Armistice Day Fest to Feature Rivalry Game

Carey celebrates Armistice Day with a flag raising at the high school grounds at 1 PM. Paul Herbert of Columbus will address the crowd in the high school auditorium. The Upper Sandusky and Carey football teams meet next, drawing a large crowd, followed by a 5:30 PM Legion Auxiliary supper at Catholic Hall. A big evening parade with drum corps bands and floats is planned, with indoor options if needed.

Talk on County Health League by Dr Naus at Carey Kiwanis

Dr W L Naus of Upper Sangi nsky spoke on the County Health League at the Carey Kiwanis meeting Monday. He noted the league’s limited scope yet notable preventive gains and warned of undernourishment reducing disease resistance. Eighteen Kiwanians attended as the Community club hosts the Kiwanis Thursday at Catholic hall.

Health League Dinner Planned in Upper Sandusky

Mrs L W Naus president of the county Health League and Mrs C F Smith publicity officer visited Upper Sandusky Wednesday to promote a dinner at 6:00 PM Monday November 20 at the Evangelical church. Dr Patterson state secretary will speak on the Ohio Public Health Seal movement.

Auxiliary members pie supper at Catholic hall

American Legion Auxiliary members are asked to bake two pies and help at a supper in the Catholic hall on Saturday November 11 starting at 9 00am. Other women whose husbands are Legion members or are World War veterans are welcome to assist and bring dish towels.

Scarlet fever illness and quarantine at Lancaster home

Miss Gladys Buckingham, guest at Mrs Frank Carpenter's home in Lancaster, has been seriously ill for ten days with scarlet fever. She also had a wrist scratch infection but is improving. The family will remain under quarantine for at least ten more days.

New Bridge Under Construction Near Craw ford

Construction of a three span steel beam bridge over Tymochtee creek near Crawford began last Saturday. Kear and Baker of Wharton are the contractors, planning 50 to 60 workers on two 5 hour shifts sourced from the National Reemployment service list. The center line will sit about 70 feet east of the old bridge with 800 feet north and 300 feet south approaches, and a two degree curve to reduce hazards. The old roadway will be used in fill and no detour will occur until early spring.
