Voters faced a heated race on county education and public affairs boards in a sunny Tuesday election. Readouts show mixed outcomes with several Democratic and Republican candidates carrying varied totals across precincts A to E.
Ben Kemmerly arrived at Toledo hospital on Tuesday afternoon and is under observation by Dr. Homer Heath after sustaining a skull fracture in an automobile accident near Benton Ridge on August 21. An operation may be necessary.
Findlay defeated Carey 33 to 0 as Carey struggled against stronger opponents. Fans debated the game with some dissatisfaction, noting outside-players and favorable breaks, while supporters highlighted Findlay’s power and the despite-it-all spirit of the Carey squad.
The Grace Chapel threshing ring met with Mr and Mrs Alton Phillips and family Saturday evening. Present were Carl Bachman and daughters Elizabeth Margaret and Doris Girard Rickle and daughter Arlene William Pierce and children William Persis and Frances Russell Phillips John Wenzinger and children Margaret Richard Corinne Norman. Allen Baker and family and Truman Updegraf and family were absent. A pot luck supper, music and games closed the evening.

The American Legion met Tuesday evening and elected Charles Calmes as commander Paul P Krupp as first vice commander Dr J D Siddall as second vice commander C C Simonis as adjutant Dr S S R Bame as finance officer Howard Snyder as chaplain Bertram Crum as sergeant at arms and Free Scourse as publicity and athletic officer They will be installed on Tuesday November 19.
Word was received by Harry Silverthorn of Forest that Joe Silverthorn died Sunday morning October 27 in Muskogee Oklahoma after a sudden illness. He leaves a wife a son and a daughter. The family had lived here for several years before moving to Oklahoma over ten years ago.
Wednesday afternoon excitement rose when a horse and buggy parked near the Times office on E Findlay street. The horse stood tethered to a light post between two alto cars, a rarity on Findlay street.
The local Red Cross chapter announced plans for a roll call campaign starting Armistice Day and ending Thanksgiving Day with a goal of 4,000 members. Rev. Paul R. Clouser chairs the effort as the chapter highlights national support and disaster relief backing.
The Crawford Ridge farm bureau will hold its annual meeting at the American Legion hall on Wednesday evening November 13 at 7 30. William S Barden will speak and a pot luck lunch will be served. Mr and Mrs M C Yost Homer Wonder Allen Baker and R M Lonsway will help with the program. All members and families are urged to attend.
In loving memory of Paul Lortz who died three years ago on November 3. He is gone but not forgotten the speaker reflects on thoughts of him in every moment.
A supper and bazaar at Our Lady of Consolation hall drew a large crowd last evening. Attendees enjoyed a merry time and a fine supper. Organizers anticipate an even bigger turnout tonight for the main event.
From Carey, many residents joined the Findlay district Lutheran churches at the First Lutheran church in Findlay for the annual reformation service. Rev. R. E. Tulless of Wittenberg College gave the evening address, with numerous local attendees listed among the choir and participants.
A handsome new soda fountain is installed at the Ewing drug store with a modern 12 watt all electric mechanical refrigerator offering five temperatures. The ivory and black tiled counter adds a fresh look. Grand opening is Friday afternoon and evening. The fountain is set back from the door, a marked improvement after rearrangement.
S R Beitler of Ohio State will present a talk titled The Flow of Fluids through Orifices in 6 inch Pipe at the American Society of Mechanical Engineers annual meeting in New York City on December 26. He is a Columbus native, Carey High School graduate of 1916, and grandson of Mrs D Myers.
The district convention of the Pythian Sisters will be held in Tiffin on Wednesday. Arrangements will be made for all who wish to attend at tonight's regular meeting. A delegate will be elected and a report from the Grand Temple representative will be given. Members urged to attend.
The 56th Annual convention of the Wyandot County Council of Religious Education will convene at the Trinity Reformed Church Upper Sandusky on Sunday Nov 10 with afternoon and evening sessions. L M Newcomer presides. Registration starts at 1:30. programs include worship, lectures by Mrs R M Sandy and Mr Arthur T Arnold, vocal duets, and group discussions for children youth and adults. The event closes with committee reports and officer elections.
F D Hurd of W Findlay street is hospitalized in Findlay with a broken right leg from a farm repair accident east of Lovell at the former Hulse farm. Dr Brayton and Dr Bame set the bone and he was taken to Findlay for X rays. Attendants report the injury remains quite painful.
At a library meeting Monday evening an organization to conduct the local Red Cross drive was formed. The executive committee includes Mrs Gail Kurtz Mrs Ross Johnson and Rev Paul R Touser who selected nine district chairmen: Mrs Grover Snyder Mrs L M Remilinger Mrs K L Leonard Mrs Howard Lee Mrs Harry Hosafros Mrs Carl Krout Mrs A G Collet Mrs C C Simonis and Mrs S R Bame.
The A C and Y announces discontinuation of three local freights. One remaining train will handle all business, running east on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays and west on Tuesdays Thursdays and Saturdays.

The Rod and Gun Club will meet this Thursday evening at the American Legion Club rooms. A trap shoot is planned for Wyandot Landing Caverns Sunday.
The Carey Hallowe'en celebration drew 500 plus masked participants and a 4000 sandwich turnout at the ox roast between the Soda Grill and the Big Four freight house. Crowds enjoyed square and round dances on Findlay and Vance streets with prizes awarded for floats, costumes, and acts by local families and groups.
