Craft Sets New Record At Mansfield Meet
Darrell Craft vaulted 11 feet to set a new Carey High School record at the Northwestern Ohio district meet in Mansfield. His 11 foot effort earns him a spot in the state meet in Columbus. Craft previously held 10 feet 9 inches and has been a state qualifier in each of Carey’s four years with athletes from the school repeatedly advancing to state.

Carey Volunteer Fire Department Responds to Two Incidents
The Carey department answered two calls last week. A diesel engine on the NYC railroad caught fire at 12:40 p.m. Friday and was moved to the crossing on county road 96 after overheating brakes ignited grease and oil. Damage was minor. A second call at 10:10 p.m. Saturday reported a gas explosion in a hot water tank at 242 West Findlay Street, lifting the tank, splitting a rafter and causing insured damage.
