The baccalaureate service at the Lutheran church drew a large audience as graduates entered with Supt. A. J. Nowlan. Rev W Elmer Bailey preached on The Preparation for the Testing Time, urging thorough work, obedience to truth, and finishing tasks to build character.
Officials from the Big Four and Hocking Valley traced a wreck at the junction of the two railways to last Monday. The in town inquiry led to orders restricting arm signals to the on duty operator only.
Arrangements are under way for the annual Pioneer picnic to be held at the same location as last year on June 11 which falls on a Saturday this year. Good speakers are expected and the occasion should be enjoyable with further announcements to follow.
Albro Johnson delivers a five passenger touring Elmore to BE. B. Kurtz and a bright red Maxwell runabout to Dr. F. L. Moyer. The transactions showcase local automotive sales and notable recipients.
The first and final account in the estate of I J Weber was filed last Friday in the probate court. Nevada News notes population trends for Wyandot county and reports a rise in personal property assessed values for Sycamore and Antrim townships.
Memorial Day observances are scheduled with a sermon at United Evangelical Church by Rev. W Elmer Bailey on May 29. Veterans and soldiers will assemble at the G A R hall before marching to the church for morning services. Decoration Day programs follow at Snyder's Opera House with school delegations, badges, a parade, and an address by Rev D C Garrison of Forest.
Mr and Mrs Edward Riester and Mr and Mrs Charles Stutzman hosted a progressive pedro party Friday evening at the Riester home. The parlors glowed with national colors and a three course supper with tiny flag favors was served. Ruth Kurtz and Lucy Straw helped serve while Englers orchestra provided music. Guests included A H Kennerley and R C Van Buren couples, I L Culler pair, M A Washburn couple, W J Newhard pair, S M Ranger pair, Harry Keller and wife, E B Kurtz and spouse, Byron Ogg, J D Ewing couple, J E Nichols pair, D W Taft of Forest, and Harry Hunter and wife. Edith Walker visited Toledo Friday for several days with friends.
The Juniors held their Friday evening reception at the Galt House parlor for the Seniors of Carey High School. Miss Della Newcomer won a bag of peanuts and Miss Arlene Slater a basket of candies in contests. Doris Barton read an original farewell poem and the class sang a farewell song. A late supper with carnations and ferns decorated in pink and green accompanied the event. Seniors set to graduate at Snyder's Opera House include Arlene Slater, Della Newcomer, Essie Thatcher, Vincy Campbell, Katura Hunter, Dora Bachar, Grace Nowlan, Merel Bond, and Ralph Livingston. The Juniors listed include Edna Stroup, Gladys Kennerley, Hazel Livingston, Doris Barton, Dorothy Grove, Erma Hunter, Alva Laws, Gladys Trubey, Lawrence Bland, Edwin King Lawrence Wenner, George Newhard, Ross Patterson, Grover Snyder, and Raymond Nichols.
About forty friends gathered at her east of town home Monday evening to surprise Miss Cecil Beebe on her fifteenth birthday. She received gifts including a ring a necklace and a bracelet.

On Monday a special Hocking train visited Garey to plant flowers in the beds on the station grounds. It is an annual road custom with a number of men accompanying the flower train.
Monday night the council with Mayor Van Heyde and members present moved to read and adopt an automobile speed ordinance, suspend rules for second and third readings, and publish it by law. They also discussed fire department membership limits and authorized sidewalk bridge materials while a court summons on land detachment was noted.
Mrs Sarah Deardorff died at home on East Main street after long illness aged 85 years 8 months 18 days. She was born in Cambridge Pennsylvania and later lived in Carey retiring years. Surviving daughters Emerr et te Brown and Ella. son Silas died 1898. Funeral at home led by Rev W J Green with Spring Grove cemetery burial. Pallbearers listed. Choir quartet performed.
The Findlay Crawford Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star invites members to visit Friday evening when Mrs. Heller district deputy will inspect the chapter. If weather allows, the trip will be by automobile.
The last W C T U meeting with Mrs. M A Ascham drew much interest and refreshments were served. A white ribbon tied around the sandwiches marked the union’s symbol. The next meeting with Mrs. J D Larmonth in June will be a Mothers' Meeting.
Mrs. Peter Thiel and daughter Catherine of Adrian were visitors Friday.
