Carey Plans Memorial Day Ceremony Committees Formed

Memorial Day services will be held in Carey on Friday afternoon May 30. committees include Decoration of Graves led by Paul Krupp Free Scoarse and Charles Stombaugh. Park Decoration with Robert O Connor Arthur Byers and Nial Ryder. Parade with Dr J D Siddall and Dr R C Van Buren. Program by Nial Ryder and Fred Pieraccini. Floats chaired by Wm Humbert Clyde Howard and F F Scheel. Dr Guyer Findlay College will deliver the address. Public urged to assist in making it a success.

Winter Coats Rally Amid Cold Wave and Frost

A regional report notes a Tuesday rally of winter overcoats with some fur coats for ladies. The cold spell began Sunday after a hail storm, with increasingly chilly conditions Monday and Tuesday. Snow was reported north Tuesday night, and a light frost appeared Wednesday morning with no damage observed locally.

A good crowd attended the entertainment given Saturday evening by the Marion Minstrel Club at the high school auditorium.

Married in Our Lady of Consolation Church

Miss Leocadia Catherine Pahl and Mr Jerome Weinandy wed at 8:00 am in Our Lady of Consolation Church with Nuptial mass. The bride wore white georgette and lilies of the valley. the groom wore a formal suit. A reception for 46 relatives followed at 124 Clay Street before a brief motor trip. Both families and local friends attended, with attendance by Rev A M Fish and several local residents. The couple will reside temporarily with the bride’s parents. Mrs Weinandy is daughter of Mr and Mrs William Pahl. he is son of Mr and Mrs Joseph Weinandy and works as a pressman at a local plant.

Memorial Day in Carey features a 1:00 p m parade forming at the public library with Colors Band Rifle Squad American Legion Spanish American veterans American Legion Auxiliary Red Cross schools and village officials followed by a program under the water works park trees or pavilion if rain. Dr W H Guyer Findlay College president delivers the main address with remarks by Mayor Almon Blue and blessing by Rev Aloys M Fish.

Death of J A Smith 75-Year-Old Local Resident

Jacob A. Smith died at his W Findlay street home after a 36 hour illness from bowel obstruction. He was born August 9 1848 on a farm west of town and is survived by his second wife Ella D Kemmerly and a brother. Funeral services are at 2 PM from the Methodist Episcopal church with interment in Spring Grove cemetery. He was a former Sunday school superintendent and long active in real estate insurance and notarial work.

Shrine Pilgrims Attend Daily Masses at Commm salation

Many pilgrims gather at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consecration with 14 visiting priests assisting. Frenchtown parish led a 700-strong forenoon procession. Today is Tiffin Day with 400 school children. The 1000 o'clock mass features the Tiffin choir and chancel choir. A special train from Sandusky brings attendees from Norwalk and other points.
