Sophomore Home Economics Banquet Honors Freshmen Teachers

The sophomores hosted a Maypole themed banquet for freshmen in Pastel decorated dining rooms with no instructor aid. Menu included tomato juice cheese squares meat loaf mashed potatoes and ice box cookies. Afterward they played games and danced.

Baccalaureate Sermon Sunday at Local High School

The baccalaureate sermon for the graduating class will be delivered Sunday evening May 24 by Rev. Marion E Tingler at the Methodist church in Christ Lutherdehncliffch. Miss Celia Reynolds to star in Showers of Stars Toledo

Miss Celia Reynolds daughter of Mr and Mrs M C Reynolds of Findlay street will appear May 25 in the stage show Showers of Stars at the Paramount Theatre in Toledo. There is one 8 o’clock performance. The dancing unit will begin a summer contract after the show. After mid June Miss Reynolds will become captain replacing the ill health incumbent, and will be trained in business management and troupe routines.

Carey racer Gail Lanker takes third at Marion event

A large Carey crowd attended the Marion automobile race where Gail Lanker placed third in the feature. Bill Chittum of Columbus won the race with Clay Corbett of Columbus finishing second. Lanker plans to race next Sunday at Winchester Indiana and on Decoration Day in Sharon Pennsylvania.

Rev Russell Harold Hoy of the McConnelsville M E church is profiled as a Wyandot county native. Born near Carey, he trained at Ohio Wesleyan and Garret Biblical Institute, pastored in Nevada and Church Hill, then served McConnelsville. A 90 pound baby Roy Joseph Lowery was born last Thursday to Mr and Mrs Harley Lowery six miles southeast of Tiffin. They formerly lived near Adrian. In Clay ton Michigan former Carey residents Mr and Mrs Frank Cole announced a son May 15 named Frank Edward who weighed seven pounds six ounces. Frank Edward has three sisters Marjory Virginia and Dorothy June. Mrs Cole was formerly Miss Margaret Keckler daughter of Mr and Mrs George Keckler.

Ohio 8th graders shine at statewide scholarship day

Martha Jane Keller led Ohio eighth graders by scoring 188 of 200 on state tests among over 36 000 participants. She spoke on What Next at the seventh annual scholarship day in Columbus, where Governor Martin L Davey awarded certificates at the Central School auditorium.

Tiffin Eagles Initiate 19 In Carey Ceremonial

Nineteen candidates from the 14th district were initiated in Carey Sunday afternoon. Five locals participated as the Carey aerie, aided by the Tiffin aerie drill team, presided over by Tiffin officers. The ceremony followed a parade from the Eagles hall with a large district turnout.
