Pot Luck and Program Brighten Stormy Evening at Church

About 656 people attended a pot luck supper and musical program at the Methodist Church Tuesday evening. Florence Mary and Virginia Marshman, Miss Reece, and Judge McNeal presented saxophone pieces with Mrs. M Marshman Ferry at the piano. The performers play in the Sunday school orchestra at the Presbyterian church in Marion with Judge McNeal as leader.

Evangelical Missionary Society Elects New Officers

The Home and Foreign Missionary society of the Evangelical church met Tuesday evening with Mrs. C. R. Tate presiding. Officers chosen include Mrs. C. H. Johnson as president, Mrs. W. M. Green as vice president, Mrs. Cora Hart as secretary, and Mrs. I. E. B. Copley as treasurer. Mrs. Johnson will serve as delegate to the state missionary convention at Marion June 17–20, with Mrs. Green as alternate.

Tearing Down Old House on Farm for Modern Home

J B Windau tears down the old house on his farm two miles north of town to place a modern house for his son in law and daughter Mr and Mrs Urban Wangler. The farm has been in Windau's possession 31 years, bought from the late Matthias Wonder who built the house nearly 100 years ago.

Carey Knights Open Season with Dominant 14 to 1 Win

Carey Knights opened their ball season at New Riegel defeating the Moose 14 to 1. Carey collected 13 hits off New Riegel’s pitcher while allowing seven. A key triple play by Fr Lawrence halted New Riegel’s only scoring in the third. D Orians started on the mound for Carey and four innings before W Schira relieved in the fifth. The Knights showed sharp defense, double plays, and strong fielding in new uniforms and seek fan support at home games.

Amateur burglars rattle east town homes. one watch stolen

Early Sunday burglars tried several east side residences of residents including Postmaster Newhard and H B Keller. A dog disturbance at Buckland’s kept intruders away. At Ranger’s home they entered the bathroom window but left empty handed. Arnold Hayman’s kitchen window admitted them. Mrs Hayman awakened as a man crawled into her room and fled. Groticelli and Odini homes on Toledo street also visited. a watch was taken at Odini. All exits blocked, indicating amateur status.
