The 51st annual Carey High School commencement is set for May 24 in the high school auditorium with Mary Ruth Sipackey as president of the graduating class. A baccalaureate service will be held the following Sunday at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev Leedy delivering the sermon titled The Christian's Signature. The program features church choir, mixed octette, and the high school orchestra led by Dr R Lin Long, with diplomas to be conferred by C C Wenner, president of the board of education.

Letters protesting the withdrawal of the Big Four passenger trains on the Berwick Sandusky division accumulate at the Tiffin Chamber of Commerce. The chamber will submit the protest to the state utilities commission for a May 26 hearing in Columbus. E Shireman of Cumberland Maryland aged 73 died Saturday May 14 of kidney trouble after being taken ill in a public post office at Beckert West Virginia where he fell unconscious. He was returned to Cumberland for burial with mourners including Mr and Mrs C M Ryder Louise Semler and others. He was the brother of several relatives and had lived with his sister Jessie Houk after his wife died.
