Carey District Boy Scouts Plan June Camporal and Camporee

Carey District Committee met to set dates for the Camporal overnight camp June 26 at the Colonel Crawford monument and a Court of Honor. Plans also covered Memorial Day participation, Harding Area Scout Camp August 6-11, and a Troop camping training course at Camp John A Owens Marion May 19-20.

Funeral services held for Walter Luzader

Walter Luzader died Sunday morning at his sister Etta Greer's home on N Vance street. Funeral service was at 2:30 p.m. Wednesday at the residence with Rev. Paul R Clouser and Rev. Lewis P. Speaker officiating. Interment followed in Spring Grove cemetery. Pallbearers were Willis Dible, Charles Dible, Frederick Dible, Joseph Dible, Harry Dible, Walter Dible, Lawrence Dible, and Harold Dible. Numerous relatives and friends attended from Bradner, Silver Creek, Princeton, Somerset, Fostoria, and surrounding towns.

Carey High School Seniors Commencement Program

The Carey high school announces commencement exercises for the current graduating class to be held Thursday evening May 24 in the auditorium. The program includes a processional and performances by the High School Orchestra and Girls Chorus, an invocation by Rev. Paul Vollrath, a prayer of consecration, an address by A W Elliot, presentation of the class by Principal W S Huffman, awards and diplomas by Supt W L Arnholt and Dr W N Johnson, and a benediction by Rev. Vollrath with operatic gems and Brahms dances interwoven throughout.

The Wo mans Home and Foreign Missionary society met Tuesday evening at Memorial Evangelical church with Mrs. Claude Johnson in charge. Devotions titled Gods Will in Our Relation to Our Children were led by Johnson. Mrs. Johnson elected as delegate to the Akron state convention in June. Mrs. Green named alternate.

Memorial Day Services Planned For Our Lady of Consolation

Rev. Paul Vollrath will preach the Memorial sermon at 9:00 a.m. Sunday May 27 at Our Lady of Consolation. The American Legion Auxiliary plans its annual poppy sale on the Saturday before Decoration Day May 26. Girl Scouts Troop No 1 will handle distribution led by Mrs Paul McArthur. Poppies honor World War heroes and are made by disabled veterans at about 10 000 000 yearly, yielding roughly 100 000 in earnings. Open Dance Season At Carey Park With Legion Support

On Thursday evening March 24 Montana Meechy and his orchestra will play for a mixed dance at Carey park under WAIU radio artists. The American Legion will run the event. On Thursday May 31 the Legion begins the regular park plan dances at Carey park to be held weekly.

Charles Edward Palmer 44 of East Palestine, a former Ohio Northern student, was elected to lead the Dover school system and will begin August 1 under a three year contract. He previously served as superintendent at Carey and Dora before East Palestine.

Jackie Stiger, 2, held by his mother, was critically injured when a Big Four gasoline train struck their coupe at the Clay street crossing late Monday afternoon.
