Pvt Earl Buckingham recounts a Pontiac to Fort Knox truck convoy with 116 men aboard eighty new trucks. The convoy, eight miles long on return, travels north of Dayton and through Pontiac with a crossing to Fridlay and back, covering more than 1000 miles.

Eileen Kirkwood Graduates From Hospital School

One hundred fifty persons attended the inspection of Crawford chapter No. 168 O E S Monday evening. The deputy grand matron Mrs Thelma Hartman Mansfield Ohio graded excellent. A dinner at the Methodist church featured profuse flowers and a large illuminated floral star. Visitors came from Mansfield Kenton Dunkirk Richwood Sycamore Findlay Crestline Shiloh. The initiatory work impressed. A quartet sang and piano duets accompanied by Elsie Howard.

Social Security Rep To Hold Office Hours At Carey

A representative of the Social Security Board field office in Marion will greet the public at Carey Municipal Building Wednesday May 21 from 4 to 5 p m. Ray V Haning, Marion manager, urges defense project workers to carry social security cards and show the card to every new employer, even with multiple jobs across states. If lost, duplicates can be obtained by writing the Marion office or visiting the Carey site during hours.

Bowling Green Student Becomes Charter Pi Omega Pi Member

Miss Florence Ruehle of Bowling Green State University becomes a charter member of the Bowling Green chapter of Pi Omega Pi a national honorary fraternity for commerce and business education. The Ohio State chapter also started a new Bowling Green chapter with high scholarship standards. Ruehle was among 15 BG juniors and seniors meeting the requirements.

Summer Schedule Moves Up Church Worship Hours

The Methodist Church will start summer worship at 9 and 10 a m from the first Sunday in June through August. Sunday services end promptly at 11 with a shorter worship period to boost attendance, aiding families traveling after 11 for reunions or trips.

Goitre Operation On Mrs Benton Reported In Toledo

Mrs Frank Benton of 1779 Tre mainsville Rd Toledo underwent a serious goitre operation at St. Vincent's hospital Toledo on May 5. Her condition required two blood transfusions and an oxygen tent but she is slowly improving. Mrs Benton was formerly Miss Flora Van Hyde of Carey with many Carey friends.

Parents entertain at breakfast for Our Lady of Consolation sodality

Thirty five members of the Young Ladies sodality received communion at the 8 o clock Mass. Maxine Kramer and Marguerite Bakies crowned the Blessed Virgin and led a song. A breakfast in the Catholic hall followed, prepared by the Christian Mothers and served by 8th grade girls, with remarks from Frs Joseph and Ralph.

Robert Donelson, 12, son of Mr and Mrs Arch Donelson, had an emergency appendectomy at Findlay hospital last Thursday evening. He developed symptoms around 6 pm and was operated on about 8 pm to prevent serious complications.

Seventeen rebuilt French 75 artillery pieces moved through Carey on a southbound New York Central freight to Ft Knox Kentucky. The guns were reconditioned and each occupied a flat car.

The six room house owned by Mr and Mrs George Spears on Glen Avenue sold to A P Cantleberry. The Cantleberry couple will move from the Bakies property on Glen Avenue to the Spears home, while the Spears move to John Risner's property on Dow Street. Real estate broker John Risner arranged the deal.
