Operation at Tiffin Hospital Improves Mrs Bland

Mrs Forest Bland entered Mercy Hospital in Tiffin last Thursday for an operation performed Friday by Dr Wenner and Dr Machamer with Dr W G Brayton present. An abscess in her right thigh from a bruise was drained and the bone scraped. She is progressing well and will remain hospitalized for several weeks.

Road improvement near Tiffin advances toward opening

The last brick on the Tiffin McCutchenville road project was laid Tuesday and the road could open on Sundays soon. Concrete curb remains to complete work and six miles of improved road from the south Tiffin line to Galbraith’s corners toward St. John’s Bridge will be ready.

Decoration Day Plans By Carey Post 173 Meeting

A special Carey Post 173 meeting at the American Legion outlined final Decoration Day plans. Veterans from Civil War Spanish American and World War units will unite for the observance. The Chamber of Commerce will fund a speaker and provide a flag, while a program committee was named. Graves will be decorated by the American Legion with flags procured by W A Perkins. Memorial Sunday arrangements are led by Nial Ryder and W A Perkins.

Salem Beats Arlington 14 to 9 in Diamond Clash

United choirs plan city program for Sunday school convention

The united choirs of this city will meet at the Latinstan church Friday at 7 30 for rehearsal for a program of music for the evening sessions of the Crawford township Sunday school convention to be held next Sunday. The Board of Public Affairs opened 15 bids Monday for material and apparatus for the Carey to Berwick electric line. Only one bid on poles from National Pole Co. of Toledo at 526.42 was accepted. others await engineer review. Bidders include Ohio Brass Mansfield and General Electric Cincinnati among others.

The week of May 22 features events for Carey high school graduation. Rev J C Rinehart will preach the baccalaureate sermon at the Lutheran church Sunday evening. New Galion Road Grader Put Into Use by Township Trustees

Crawford township trustees recently purchased a new Galion road grader from Trubey and Grine. A factory representative instructed Emil Pahl and Jacob Greno to operate it. The grader has a 12 foot blade and will scrape the full road width in one pass. The traveling public will be glad the road work has started.
