Dr T Ben Peery Named Baccalaureate Speaker

Supt Douglas W Myers announces Dr T Ben Peery will deliver the baccalaureate sermon for Carey high school graduates on Sunday evening May 20 in the high school auditorium. Peery, a veteran pastor with service across multiple cities, has broad civic speaking credentials and will also give the Memorial Day address for the local American Legion.

Wyandot County Health Board reorganizes elects leaders

Wesley Wonder, re elected president of the Wyandot County Health Board, heads a reorganized group. Earle C. Sempson becomes vice president, Herbert Kuenzl joins the board replacing Milo Gould. Other members include Dr Kenneth Beitler and Dr Henry Vogtsberger. Jack Henry reappointed sanitarian and secretary Mrs Catherine Walters named clerk registrar succeeding Mrs Craig Swihart.

What the Stork Has Brought

A 9 pound 8 ounce son named Terry Lee was born at 5 30 a.m Wednesday May 2 at Wyandot Memorial Hospital to Mr and Mrs Alfred Stansberry 527 West Street. The mother is Eunice Mae Schroeder daughter of Mrs Ivan Green. Father is a son of Mrs Lynn Stansberry. The baby has sisters and brothers Patty Joane Linda Marietta Alfred Jr Ronald Donald and Franklin. A 6 pound 7 ounce daughter named Susan Ann was born at 1 15 a.m Monday at Wyandot Memorial Hospital to Mr and Mrs Donald Droll Kirby. The first child, she is the mother Patricia Emerine. Grandparents are Mr and Mrs Raphael Emerine Fostoria and Mr and Mrs Wilfred Droll northwest of Carey.

Jaycees Attend State Convention in Columbus

Mr and Mrs Donald Wilson and Elroy Katzler attended the Jaycee convention at the Deshler Hilton Hotel Columbus. The event focused on electing state officers. Wives joined a luncheon at the Darby House. The Wilsons’ children stayed with grandparents in Mansfield and Columbus relatives visited with Mr Wilson’s parents.

Shuman Heads Ticket In Wyandot County Primary Race

Harold E. Shuman of near Carey led the Carey and Crawford township Republican ticket in the Wyandot county primary, unofficially polling 890 votes to head the slate for county commissioner. Other race results list J E Simpson, F K Cassel, and rival A R Crasher among candidates, with unopposed posts showing Bacon, McAllister, Hathaway, Enders, Kraus, Bolyard and Moon achieving primary tallies.

Industrial Arts Projects On Display At Houk's Hardware

The Industrial Arts Department of Carey Exempted Village High School will present student projects at Houk's Hardware Store from May 12 to 19. Annual Mother's Day Communion-Breakfast at Our Lady of Consolation

The mothers and daughters of Our Lady of Consolation parish will receive Holy Communion at the 8 o'clock Mass Sunday. A breakfast follows in the new school auditorium, sponsored by the Christian Mothers Society. Fr Theodore Eickholtz will speak. Power failure hits village during Sunday storm

Electric service was disrupted in the village at 614 p.m Sunday when an Ohio Power Co. line went down between Tiffin and Carey. J. R Castner, village manager, said power returned about an hour and 10 minutes later.

Blood Donor Day Planned in Carey May 23

On Wednesday May 23 Carey hosts Blood Donor Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Our Lady of Consolation School auditorium. General chairman Mrs Clarence J Hagley and co chair Robert D Hale oversee the drive with JayCeeJays and Soroptimist Club volunteers. Registration at Hale's Jewelry Store. The quota is 125 pints, requiring about 150 prospective donors.

Carey School Board Accepts Resignations

The Carey Exempted Village Board of Education accepted the resignations of Mrs G M Tong and Lester Baum. Retained to fill vacancies for the coming year are Mauss Ruth Schilling Nevada elementary Miss Elizabeth Gardner Carey elementary and Earl Greer Findlay commercial. An additional 6th grade vacancy remains and more equipment will be added to an elementary room in the Crawford building for fall classes.

Carey Man Fined and License Suspended

Floyd Beebe Kloepfer, 45, arraigned before Judge Russell H. Kear in Common Pleas court on a driving while under the influence charge. He was fined $100 and costs and sentenced to three days in county jail. his driver’s license was suspended for six months. Charges were filed last Nov 2 by Paul F. Pahl, local officer, and G. C. Wagner, then police justice, bound over to the grand jury under $100 bond.

Bowling Green Ohio May Sing crowned winners as 15 sororities and women’s dorm groups competed. Miss Betty Jackson led Alpha Xi Delta’s winning chorus of 89, with Gamma Phi Beta presenting the trophy. Carey High School Concert Band to Perform May 18

The 72 piece Carey High School Concert Band will present the final concert of the school year on Friday evening at Memorial Park if weather permits. If rain or bad conditions occur the performance moves to the high school auditorium. The program begins at 8 and admission is free. the public is invited.

Memorial EU.B. Church held the closing session of its Weekday School of Religion Tuesday at 2 30 p.m with Miss Gertrude Cooper of Findlay as guest speaker. The school opened Oct 11 1955 and closed with an enrollment of 223. Each child received a certificate of promotion and the workbook used during the year.

Three Wyandot county men left Tuesday for Ft Hayes Columbus for induction. They are Theodore Peter Frost Nevada route 1 Thomas Frederick McClain Upper Sandusky route 1 and William John Walton Upper Sandusky route 4. May 16 three more will leave for pre induction physicals.

Village council approves routine business and salaries

The village council approved the GE bid for 1920 feet of electric cable and reviewed other bids totaling around 88 thousand dollars for a new substation. Delivery expected in July and operation within 30 to 60 days after. Resolution No. 395 set monthly salaries for the manager and the clerk auditor. Police justice report and building permits for garage and residence additions were also noted.

House Bill Authorizes Sale of Lots to Carey

The House on May 1 passed a bill allowing the federal government to sell to the village of Carey the lots at W North and Vance Streets once planned for a post office, at fair market value. The Senate had not yet acted. J R Castner said the move aligns with the president's policy to dispose of surplus government lands to state and municipal governments.

Mansfield agents attend Buckeye Mutual regional dinner

Mrs Pauline Wickiser, a local agent, attended the Buckeye State Mutual Insurance Association regional agents dinner at the Mansfield Leland Hotel. Guests received a commemorative volume with the company's history and attendees' photos from the Diamond Jubilee banquet in 1954.

Revival begins Sunday at Pentecostal Church of God

Revival services will be held each evening for several weeks starting Sunday at 7 45 at the Pentecostal Church of God located a mile and a half northwest of Carey on the Shuman Road. Evangelist Albert Whitaker of Silver Lake Indiana will be the speaker. The public is invited.
