Blue Devils crush records in 80 to 38 track win
Carey track team opened the season with an 80 38 victory over Vanlue led by Leo Beagle who won the 120 yard high hurdles 180 yard low hurdles and the 100 yard dash. Beagle set or tied multiple school marks and was part of the winning mile relay with Carl Sharp John McDaniel and Ralph Musgrave. John McDaniel also won three events and set CHS records in shot put and discus. Sam Welker set a new 88 yard record and won the mile. Darrel Craft Marvin Beagle and Glen Risner tied for first in pole vault at 7 feet 6 inches. Reminders for Upper Sandusky night relays at 6 p.m. Saturday.

Former Resident Visits Boyhood Home on Birthday
Clarence L Johnston, born in Carey fifty years ago, returned with his wife to revisit his boyhood scenes on his birthday. Now living in Oneonta New York he described the Carey house once home to himself and noted the family grain elevator sold in 1918 and later destroyed by fire. His father W F Johnston and grandfather Thomas Morris Johnston owned it. Thomas Johnston, 84, died January 22 near Albany while visiting his daughter. Burial was postponed due to deep ground frost and took place last Saturday.

The Carey High School Band presents its final concert of the year on Friday May 15 at 8 pm. The American Legion Auxiliary plans Poppy Day for the Saturday before Memorial Day, May 23 this year.
