Entertaining Comedy At Our Lady of Consolation Parish

The Holy Name Society staged a skit titled A Case Against Casey at the parish hall last Thursday. Miss Dotty Perkins and Dennis Casey were portrayed by Charles Kokenge and Paul Kramer with a colorful jury of nationalities. A Dutch band provided music and a lunch followed as about 45 couples attended.

Carpenter tractor shown as solution to tractor problem

The Carpenter tractor demonstrated at Mrs. D H Wonder farm plowed 84 rods in 5 minutes with three plows. it produces a 45 inch by 10 inch wide strip and can plow an acre in 60 minutes. Pavilion under way at park with 40 by 60 foot plan

Rothgeb and Hood start construction on a park pavilion a signed contract details a 40 by 60 foot structure with a 10 foot porch around all sides. The floor will sit eight inches high and cement will be used for the floor and the 24 outer edge columns. Sliding windows will allow views and the roof will be unobstructed by internal columns. Plumbing for future kitchen rough ins are laid as preparations.

Lutheran Reception for New Members Draws 200 Guests

The Lutheran church held its annual Easter reception for new members with about 200 members and friends attending in the Sunday school room last Thursday evening 1917. Decor featured American flags bunting and carnations as Rev E Luther Spaid and W J Newhard greeted guests. Newhard delivered a welcome address and Spaid offered a short talk. New Auto Garage to Rise on East Main Street

A newly formed firm comprising W. H. Phelps Carl Schira J. A. Newcomer and I. G. Huston will erect a modern garage on East Main next to the Big Four. They will tear down the current livery barn and build a 9000 square foot facility with a repair shop and storage for at least 50 cars. The site is ideal and full up to date equipment is planned with occupancy hoped within a few months.

Funeral of Mrs. Rebecca Cary Noted in Lima

Rev and Mrs J W Shock and family returned Monday evening from Lima where they attended the funeral of Mrs Rebecca Cary, mother of Mrs Shock, who died at 4:00 Friday morning aged 74. She left nine children, seven surviving, two brothers, 40 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.

Death of Mrs Daniel Young in Lena and Carey

Mr and Mrs Truman Young returned from Lena after the death of Mrs Daniel Young, caused by liver cancer. Burial followed Sunday and the funeral occurred Tuesday of last week. The Youngs were joined by his sister Mrs Charles Hugh and their son Paul of Atlanta who stayed in Carey until Monday.

Jerome Ruffing Called Into Army Reserve

Jerome Ruffing, son of Mr and Mrs Ruffing, has been called as a reserve by the United States army after three years in the regular army. He previously served in the regulars until last January. He reports to Chicago. He is married and home last Thursday. Edmond Ortans, 11, son of Mrs Lewis Ortans near Kirby, was taken to Home Aid Hospital Findlay for hernia repair after a lifting strain. His aunts Mrs Lena Simonis and Mrs Charles Braun and Mr W G Brayton accompanied him to the hospital.

Tuesday morning J A Gibbs located a hat blowing along Main street hung in a Newham's store bag. Inquiry showed Forest Phillips, a town resident, had recently bought the hat and left it in his buggy, with the wind likely sending it astray.
