Narrow Escape From Fire In Home
Mrs. Lloyd Yohe and her 13 year old daughter Gertrude faced a risky household accident when hot turpentine and lard ignited. Mrs Yohe tore off burning clothing while milk from two jars doused the flames. She suffered serious burns to her right hand and arm but is improving. Gertrude shows progress and surgery is not planned.

Ming flag raising at Big Four marks patriotic parade
A large crowd gathered despite threatening weather for a Ming raising on Sunday afternoon. Students from public and parochial schools marched with flags, led by William Pahl and Belle pupils, as Supt. Beitler presided and Rev. Spaid gave the invocation. The Star Spangled Banner played as the flag rose, but rain shortened remarks by T. W. McClure who delivered brief patriotic sentiments.
