Members of the speech classes rehearse for the Drama and Poetry Contest at Bowling Green on March 31. The one act play features a large cast led by Tom Atkins and Betty Niederkohr under Miss Clagett. Charlotte Tucker and Josephine Troiano enter the poetry contest.
Administrator's night at Scott High School Toledo drew 86 teachers and administrators for a panel on the revised Industrial Arts program. Attendees included Mr Hartman and Mr Klotz with panelists featuring the school principal and five industrial arts teachers. Post discussion evaluators were Mr Baysinger Mr Willard Bateson and Mr Hugh Pierce of the University of Michigan.
On March 31 Carey High School bands compete at Ross High School Fremont in district solo and ensemble events. Solo entrants include Shirley Keller Jane Walter Eileen Mott Marlene Lee Glenda Ganther Ann Dible Robert Cole Joyce Myers Sandra Ganther John Welsh Jr Paul Williams Jr. Ensemble groups include cornet trio saxophone quartet trombone trio brass quartet brass sextet clarinet quartet mixed clarinet quartet and more with accompanists Glenda Gunther Marlene Lee and Phyllis Stombaugh. Carey moves to 8B in music classification, facing larger schools like Fostoria and Tiffin, increasing competition.
The Carey Wyandot County Farm Bureau marks a grand opening of its new mill and elevator this Friday with free grinding from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Early grinding included chick feed for George and Mrs Chadwick, with first wheat by Fordyce Lortz and W H Wright, first beans Hugh Kurtz, and first corn Paul Rife. Manager W O Jordan invites customers to inspect the plant any time.

The Carey Farmers Community club held Ladies Night at Christ Lutheran Church with about 60 attendees. Rev. John A. Root delivered the invocation, Gottfried as toastmaster, and Mrs. Mark Karr responded. Dr. Robert H. Carrigan spoke on Belgian Congo hunting and missionary work in Africa, urging support for missions. Next meeting is April 30 with election and dues.
Wyandot County Achievement Day on Wednesday April 18 opens at 10 am in the New Star Theatre Upper Sandusky. Principal speaker Mrs H O Edwards Water ville is among five Ohio women chosen to represent the state at the Associated Country Women of the World meeting in 1950 Copenhagen. Mrs C B Wintringham Ada presents an afternoon chalk talk. Luncheon serves at the fairgrounds dining hall. Tickets available from home demonstration councillors or the extension office Upper Sandusky after April 1 and must be bought by April 14, no sales at the door.
Two Wyandot county men from Carey and Wharton were arraigned in Justice Loren Schoenbergers court in Upper Sandusky on harboring an unlicensed dog. Both fined 10 dollars and costs but could not pay and were jailed. The Carey man paid and was released next morning while the Wharton man remained in jail to serve out his sentence.

The Philathea Ladies' Bible class of Memorial E U B Sunday school will meet at 7 30 p m Tuesday April 3 in the home of Mrs L L Rowland on E North Street.

Out of East Camp Parris Island Maryland March 5 Marine Private First Class Richard B Bakies 17 son of Mr and Mrs Fred Bakies of Carey Ohio was promoted upon graduating from boot camp on March 15 1951 He won the Marksman medal with a rifle score of 198 of 250 during weapons training and has spent eight weeks in recruit training mastering drill first aid hygiene and field tactics He fired Garand rifle and other weapons and witnessed demonstrations of machine gun mortar and flamethrower He enlisted January 9 and after a 10 day leave will transfer to a Marine Corps unit at Camp Lejeune N C for duty
Brotherhood of Railway Clerks Lodge 825 met March 21 in the Carey R C hall with members from Carey Delaware Marion Upper Sandusky and Fostoria present. Henry Pieracini Jr of Marion serves as secretary treasurer and R C Pahl of Carey is division chairman and C O clerks state delegate to the national convention opening in San Francisco May 14 with Mrs Pahl to accompany him.
The Carey Band Mothers plan a meeting at 8 pm on Monday April 2 at Carey High School. The committee of nine mothers led by chairman Mrs Paul Williams will organize plans for the benefit dance set for April 6 and urge good attendance.

Mrs George Pickens, 1961 Red Cross drive chair, announced only $336.38 was needed to reach a goal of $1561.23 as wartime emergencies loom. The appeal urges local residents to donate via solicitors or mail, noting seven people giving $50 each or fourteen giving $25 could fill the deficit.
Democrats will be spectators only when candidates for Delaware city officials are selected at the May 8 primary. A ruling from Secretary of State Clarence F. Sweeney said no Democratic primary is necessary. Delaware county election board canceled bids for both Democratic and Republican ballots based on the ruling.
