Daylight Saving Act Signed by President
The president signed the daylight saving bill setting clocks forward one hour on the last Sunday in March and back on the last Sunday in October. Trains and shops will run as usual with time one hour earlier, and promoters claim annual savings, including about $40,000,000 in light costs. Senator Calder notes the sole change is an extra hour of daylight for everyone.

Meat man narrowly escapes as cooler section falls
E C Harshberger and a hired installer avoided serious injury Friday when a rotted floor gave way under a 1500 pound cooler section. A floor support, installed with the old cooler, stopped the heavy piece just inches from crushing them. Harshberger sustained a head and shoulder blow and a cut cheek from broken glasses. the installer suffered a badly bruised shoulder.

Lieut Myles Gelwicks of Findlay, killed in an Ellington Field plane crash in Houston, was a cousin of C C Kisselle of this city. Lieut Little accompanied the remains to Findlay and arrived in Carey Sunday evening, staying at the Galt House after being unable to secure a train out.

Friday night about 8 30 a fire in the smoke stack at the Federal Porcelain plant spread to scaffolding left in the unfinished stack. Workmen on the roof swept burning fragments away. no damage. Fire department stood by. no alarm. Also, Howard Heck fell from a tipped wagon into John Hendrick’s storage barn, suffering head injuries but no serious harm.
