Garey and Our Lady of Carey Seminary joined over 400 participants at the Ohio Bishops Conference on the Apostolate to the Spanish Speaking held at St. Michael's School Findlay. Frs Hubert Owen Bonaventure and Fr Francis X Swei zer led groups with Mrs Dow and others guiding the Rosary Altar Society. Topics covered migrant workers attitudes catechetics and laity roles with a youth workshop led by Albert Ottenweller.

Freezing rain and high winds kept three village electric crew members on duty through Saturday night and Sunday forenoon as limbs felled lines in yards. Manager George Dunn said the village avoided a major line outage, with no reports of flooded basements, though sewer backups neared floor level. Ohio Power Co. customers west of town lost service from 9:50 p.m. to about 1:50 p.m.

Sledding accident ends Linda Wickiser’s perfect attendance
Linda Wickiser 17 daughter of Ira and Mrs Wickiser of E North Street suffered rib injuries and a possible kidney injury in a sledding accident two weeks ago. She had continued to attend school until her condition worsened Monday and is now confined at home.

William Zierolf brought a five foot high Sacred Lily of India to the Carey Times. The single maroon flowering bloom rose from a bulb with a two foot swordlike stamen. The plant bloomed for about five days outdoors and created a strong odor in the office.
