Elias Wentling of Wharton died Tuesday afternoon at 1:00 after a two week illness from bronchial pneumonia. He was 76, spent most of his life in Wharton. Joe Stahl shows a beautiful abbalonia shell received from his wife's nephew Merle Dame who visited the Catalina Islands while performing in a San Francisco theatre. The shell is half rough and half polished with a vari-colored surface. Shells lie 20 feet below water and are viewed by tourists in glass bottom boats. Merle and his wife are acrobats who have toured the United States and London and other cities in the British Isles.
