Mayor Ray Peiffer Receives Humphrey Letter on Local Civic Ties
Carey Ohio mayor Ray Peiffer was honored with a letter from Vice President Hubert Humphrey praising his attendance at the Regional Conference of Mayors in Cleveland. The note, dated June 6 1966, urges ongoing federal–city cooperation and asks for Peiffer’s counsel on policy adaptation. Peiffer also attended the Ohio State Highway Patrol Academy graduation in Columbus on June 10 and a June 11 regional Mayors meeting at Bowling Green State University.

The Glass City Shuffleboard Tourney comes to Toledo July 8–10 at Jermain Park, with trophies for amateurs and cash for experts. The club invites members to a 4th of July potluck at 6 p.m. at the park shelter house.

Mrs Mildred Farmer Dies In Toledo Ex pressway Crash
Mrs Mildred Farmer 53 died after a head on collision on the Toledo Detroit Expressway at Hoffman Road when a southbound steel truck blew a tire and crossed the divider. Her husband Robert E Farmer was injured as were Mr and Mrs Earl Breitigan. The accident blocked traffic for hours and left the truck and car a total loss. Mrs Farmer was born October 24 1912 in Hancock County and survived by two daughters a sister and eight grandchildren. Her body lies at Coldren Funeral Home.

Carey Marine Ronald Dible Sent From Carey High Graduate
Ronald Dible from Carey Ohio graduated from Carey High School in 1964 and joined the U S Marines. He served in Vietnam with the 2nd Battalion 3rd Marines near 400 miles northeast of Saigon. He wrote to Ohio Governor Rhodes about a flag for his barracks and the governor sent a flag and a photo with two other Ohio soldiers. He celebrated his 20th birthday in Vietnam on June 23. He is engaged to Emogene Berkins of West North Street and his family includes his parents Walt and Marjorie Dible and siblings.
