Tragedy at Crossing: Miss Brashares Killed by Train
Miss Kathryn Brashares of McCutchenville died instantly when her Dodge sedan was struck by a southbound Big Four passenger train near town. She had been en route to her fiancé’s home, was 20, and a McCutchenville graduate. Funeral held at 10:36 Sunday with local church quartet. Burial in Bethel cemetery. House Struck by Lightning Damages Cleveland Ave Home
A morning lightning strike during a severe storm hit a Cleveland avenue house owned by Grove Walborn and occupied by Warren Carlyle and family. Mrs Carlyle was knocked unconscious near the kitchen store. three children were stunned. The home suffered extensive damage including siding plaster chimney and roof damage with wiring burned.

Death of Levi Hile Noted as Respected Community Member
Levi Hile died at his residence after a stroke at age 72. Funeral services were held at Christ Lutheran Church with Rev. Paul R. Clouser officiating. He is buried in Maple Grove Cemetery, Findlay, with six nephews among the pallbearers. He was born near Carey on February 24, 1853, married Emily Jane Shuman in 1882, survived by a foster son Claude M. Hile, two sisters, and a brother, and long served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher in the Lutheran church.
