Sergeant John Frank Best, 28, chief operator of the state highway patrol radio station WPGG near Findlay, was killed by an electric shock while testing a receiving set. Fire and police units battled to revive him for 4 hours 45 minutes. coroner Dr. H O Crosby said death was almost instant.

A sizable crowd gathered at Stoll's grove near Crawford for a Pioneer picnic marking Col. William Crawford's death at the hands of Indians on June 11, 1782.
