Carey Wins First Baseball Game

Donelson's Packers beat the Toledo Black Sox 9 to 2 at the rubber plant grounds. A six run first inning gave Carey the lead as Lefty Dell Parsell shut down the Black Sox for eight innings. Next Friday Carey hosts Lovell. Sunday they travel to Forest for a long standing rivalry.

Children’s Service at the Methodist Church Highlights

A fine program by the church school primary department directed by Mrs. E. S. Carey Physical Education Program Summer Session

A summer physical education program including softball and tennis will be held in Carey under Hayden Fouts, the Carey high school athletic coach. All boys 10 years and older meet in the gym at the high school Monday afternoon June 21 at 2 o clock for preliminary team drawing and tournament planning.

Executors Resign from Dr Colon Beck Will

Attorney H G Chambers of Carey and John Snook southwest of town have both resigned as executors of the will of the late Dr Colon Beck of Clyde. Dr Beck's widow was named administratrix of the estate and will serve with the will annexed after the will was found by Chambers.

The ceremony featured Mendelssohn marches, a white rose bouquet, and a reception at Pilgrim House followed by a motor trip. The bride worked as secretary to the local school superintendent. the groom, a six year Navy veteran, is with Seneca Wire in Fostoria.

Dr H H McClelland former superintendent of the state hospital at Dayton spoke to the local Kiwanis club Monday evening. Mr and Mrs Foster Savidge and their children Mary and Ralph traveled to Washington DC to attend the June 9 commencement at Columbus University. Ralph Savidge, a son of the couple, graduated in the ceremonies held in Memorial Continental Hall.

Columbus June 15 The state highway department received bids on 500000 in road improvements. Dunn & Roller of Carey won the Marion Columbus Sandusky road project on Route 98 covering 10.988 miles with grading and surfacing at 80175 dollars.

Carey Hosts Dance Revue With Toledo Dancers

Two Toledo professionals join Carey pupils for the third annual Dance Revue at the high school auditorium. Ruth Clair Ingels of Upper Sandusky presents the program with Eddie Hans, Spar studios Toledo director, featuring stair dance and other numbers. Ten year old Jimmy Burdette also appears as guest tap dancer. Doors open 7 p m and show starts 8 p m Admission 35 cents for adults 15 cents for children.

Children’s Day Service at Christ Lutheran Church

The annual Children’s Day service will be held at Christ Lutheran Church next Sunday at 10:30 AM. The chancel will be decorated by the senior department and the Luther League. Pupils from Beginners to Junior-Intermediate will perform, directed by a committee including Mrs. Earl Moser and others.

The Pythian Sisters host an ice cream and strawberry festival at the Pythian hall corner of Patterson and South Streets Saturday evening. Woman Injured in Fall at Missionary Tea

Mrs. George Shuman of west of town suffered an injured right shoulder and a scalp wound after falling headfirst down basement stairs at the home of Mrs. S. B. Chesebrough on W. Findlay street following a missionary tea last Wednesday evening.

Stinging Revenge: Goats Attack Bees in Urbana Yard

Two goats tied in the Lewellyn family yard in Urbana last Friday angered nearby bee hives. Bees swarmed the animals, killing one goat and leaving the other in danger. Officer Helfrick arrived to euthanize the doomed Billy, but the goat was already dead when he reached the scene. The bees had dispersed by the time help arrived.

Gillig Brodman couple wed at St Joseph Salem

Miss Martha Brodman and Joseph Gillig of Alvada married Thursday at St Joseph Church Salem with Rev Basil Heiser officiating. The bride wore a white satin gown and veil. attendants included Miss Mary Brodman and Elmer Gillig. A dinner followed at the bride’s home and a motor trip to Niagara Falls ended the day before settling with the groom’s parents near Alvada.

Luther League to Stage Farce Look Who's Here

The Luther League of Christ Evangelical Lutheran church will present a three act farce in the parish hall next Friday evening June 25. Proceeds go to the Lakeside project.
