Carey defeated Kirby Parochial Nine 8 to 5 at the rubber plant diamond. Edmund Pahl pitched. George Fox catcher. Eugene Pahl first base. Xavier Arnold second. Leo Fox third. Kirby fans sent about 20 auto loads to the game as a rematch following Kirby’s 11 to 8 win last week.
Rev Earl Criger of a New Haven Presbyterian church spent four weeks with his parents west of town after a Thursday arrival. He visited Columbus over the weekend and will spend part of his time studying at Yale University, joining a church with more than 2100 members.
Badger and Ennis of Sycamore have begun masonry on the Wyatt Hatchery at N Lake Street. Sny der Lumber Co will handle carpentry. Hatchery aims to open by July 15 with machinery and equipment already ordered for installation on that date.
Mrs Lena Simonis and Miss Esther Orians attended the Toledo nuptials of Miss Jeanette Weaver and Mr Oscar O’Brien. The ceremony occurred at St Francis de Sales cathedral with Ralph Weaver and Florence O’Brien as attendants. The newlyweds departed for a trip to Cleveland and Niagara Falls.
Ross Draper is named manager of Carey City’s baseball team for the season. He leads a young roster believed to form one of the strongest Carey has fielded in years.
Mervin Shafer underwent another eye operation Tuesday morning for an injury suffered earlier when a steel particle entered his eye while working at the Phelps garage.
Infant Charles Richard, born Monday at 3:00 am to Mr. and Mrs. Charles Calmes, died soon after birth and was buried Monday afternoon in St. Marys cemetery.
Mrs William Zahn born Mary Garn in Carey April 9 1872 died at home on West Findlay Street Thursday at 5 00 am paralysis had left her bedfast a week survived by husband William Zahn son Norman Zahn and many Garn and Zahn relatives. Funeral Saturday at Lutheran church conducted by Rev Lewis P Speaker with six brothers as pallbearers. Burial in Spring Grove cemetery.

Newton Burke of Crawford died Monday at 3:00 am at the county home where he had stayed weeks. Funeral services were held Tuesday at Crawford M. E. Church led by Rev. W. M. Keller. Burial followed in Ritchie Cemetery. Born in Crawford in 1840, he was the son of Isaac and Betsy Burke and spent his life there living with his son Chester.
A daughter named Barbara Ann was born Wednesday at 1:00 PM to Mr. and Mrs. Russell Greer of Cleveland. An eight pound daughter named Mary Ellen was born last Thursday to Mr. and Mrs. Al Ruffing and christened Sunday at Our Lady of Consolation Church with sponsors Mr. and Mrs. Fred Pieraceigi.
The Dukes family reunion will be held on Saturday June 16 at Riverside Park in Findlay. Relatives who received cards are asked to notify any members who did not receive notices.
The Crawford chapter of the Eastern Star holds a regular meeting Friday evening with special business and an initiation on the agenda. Members are urged to attend.
Children Day exercises will be held Sunday morning at 9 30 with combined services. All are asked to attend promptly. The pastor will preach at night.
The Crawford M. E. church will observe Children's Day next Sunday evening at 7 30.
James F. Shuman sues Liberty Airless Tire Corp. Receiver directed to sell the Liberty Tire Corp manufacturing plant and real estate in Carey by public auction on July 14 1923 at 2 00 pm. Cash bids only with minimum 1000 and 10000 deposit to bid. Sale reported to the court for confirmation and advertised in multiple papers.
A committee notes West side has 65 signers and about $33 for the feed. A proposal suggests both sides share a pot luck with West side supplying ice cream and strawberries. They seek opinions from East side and urge notify men who solicited or Mr. Miller by Saturday night June 16.
Grover Harris begins construction of a modern nine room residence on his Glenn Avenue lot. The old Carey house, built about 60 years ago by Joseph W. DeWitt, has been torn down. The contract for the new home is let to R. D. Perkins.
Mayor warns residents that bicycle riding on main street sidewalks is prohibited and feet propelled wagons require property owner consent. By order of the Mayor.

The Brotherhood of the Lutheran church will meet this evening at 3 o clock at the home of A H Kenner ley. All members urged to attend.
Mrs A G Collet travels to Tiffin for a hernia operation at Mercy Hospital to be performed by Dr Daniels and assisted by Dr Bame.
City Ball Club lost 8 to 6 at Mt Blanchard in the season opener. Bradley started, was effective until the sixth, then gave way to Bland who settled in after a rough first. L Russell earned the win. Bradley the loss. Next Sunday the city team travels to Arlington for a fast, expected tough game.

Hocking Valley appoints Geo. Wolfrum Sr as crossing watchman at Main Street railroad crossing after editorial call for safety. Watchman starts Monday for at least ten hours daily with possible extension or追加 personnel if traffic warrants, per railroad officials. Cooperation with village authorities emphasized.

Judge Florence Allen was to visit Upper Sandusky for a reception by the Wyan dot County Bar Association and the League of Women Voters in the common pleas court room after arriving via the Hocking Valley line. Supreme court matters delayed her, requiring a motor trip from Columbus. she will still attend the Pioneer Picnic as principal speaker but cannot stop in town.
The June 2 birth of Martha Rose Schlachter was celebrated with a christening at Our Lady of Consolation Church. Sponsors were Mrs Gust Kummerer of Tiffin and Mrs John Schmitz of Alvada. Father Albert Schlachter also shares a birth day with the occasion.
