Second Accidental Shooting Reported in Carey Area
Ellis G Risner of Carey route 2 was treated at Blanchard Valley Hospital for a gunshot wound from an accidental discharge of a .22 rifle. He said the rifle fell from his Jeep while he was testing it, the bullet piercing his left arm. His brothers Alvin and Ronald helped move him to care. This marked the second such accident in the area that weekend following Franklin Smith's similar incident on E North Street.

Village council met with residents to address an offensive odor from Brown ditch north of the A C and Y railroad and agreed to clean and flush the ditch. They approved renting the Waterworks Park pavilion for weekly dances with adult supervision and set rules. A $5 494 rebate from General Electric will credit the electric fund. Ray Dennis Jackson 26 of 404 East Findlay Carey was arrested Tuesday June 8 on four charges maliciously destroying property running a red light speeding and resisting officers. He was fined 170 plus costs and paid 5000 with a pledge to pay 10 weekly until balance. Officers Doppler and Orians made the arrest.

Dennis Leichty in serious crash remains unconscious
Dennis Dale Leichty, 19, of 640 W Findlay Street, suffered multiple lacerations possible concussion and internal injuries when his 1960 Chevrolet sports coupe left State Route 53 three miles south of Tiffin at 9 34 pm Friday. He was taken to Mercy Hospital Tiffin then transferred to St Vincent Toledo where his condition was listed as critical but showing some improvement.
