Carey High School hosted a May 27 prom in the gym transformed into an Oriental Garden. Dinner for about 200 featured Far East costumes and fortune cookies, with elaborate decorations, performances, and a midnight movie and breakfast marking the end of the seniors’ high school days.

The Park Recreation Department led by John Drobnick launches its summer program for school age children this Friday. Friday focuses on organizing boys and girls softball teams, with other activities including volleyball tennis badminton and table games. Memorial Day pool opened with about 300 swimmers and good attendance. season tickets selling well. Fire Damages Garage at Lang Residence on Clay Street
Neighbors discovered a fire in the garage at 511 Clay Street around 5 PM Sunday. It started in a basket on a shelf containing pop bottles and miscellaneous items. Carey Volunteer Fire Department extinguished the blaze, which was contained to one wall, roof underside and overhead doors.

Driver Fined After Eastbound Crash Near Findlay
Pearl W. Dangler 76 of route 2 Findlay was fined 15 dollars and costs in municipal court for failure to stop within the assured clear distance after her car struck Eu gene Laube’s eastbound vehicle as Laube halted for a school bus. Both cars sustained extensive damage. Laube was stopped near US 224 east of Findlay and the Dangler vehicle was eastbound behind the bus. Laube’s car was towed to a Carey garage. Laurie moved Friday from Carey to Findlay.
