Sunday dinner and evening suppers featured Mrs Augusta Steen and son Gail from Van Buren visiting Mr and Mrs Nelson Carron. Albert Racheter and family of Nevada joined Mr and Mrs B B Thome for supper.
Mrs John Lowery hosted Sunday dinner with guests Joseph Wright William Wyburn and Mr and Mrs Truman Cole of Sycamore and Mr and Mrs Charles Weachbar.
Mr and Mrs Orville Lee Miss Ruth Bailey Miss Henrietta Bailey and Samuel Bailey of Decatur Illinois and Mr and Mrs Hosea Tong visited Sunday with Mr and Mrs Allen Devene near Wharton in a social gathering.
On Tuesday evening a group of friends and relatives gathered at Mr. and Mrs. David Lasley home to mark their fifth wedding anniversary. The couple received numerous gifts as a sign of friendship and affection.
Mrs. W. M. Gobrecht entertained Tuesday evening with a 6 o'clock shinner. Her guests were Mrs. Hubert Braun and son Kenneth of Toledo and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Iden and their children Henrietta Elizabeth and Charles.
Sunday dinner guests included Mr. and Mrs. P. O. Cramer and Charles Cramer with Mildred of Fostoria, Mrs. John Stoody and daughters Martha and Bernice of Carey, and Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Wright with Mrs. Ida Cramer.
Mr and Mrs LeRoy Wonder of AW Findlay Street hosted a Friday evening watermelon party. Guests included Mr and Mrs Max Hines and their children and Mrs Emma Straw from near Upper Sandusky, Mrs Deplar Straw of El Paso Texas, and Mr and Mrs A C Walton of Sycamore.
Mr and Mrs F HE Schearer of Bucyrus hosted a Sunday dinner party with guests including Mr and Mrs Philip Schearer, Mr and Mrs Paul Schearer, Paul and Tessie Hunsinger of Bellevue, Mrs Carrie Schearer of New Albany, Ind, Mrs Eliza Correll and Henry Schearer of Adrian, and others. Evening lunch followed at Mr and Mrs Harry Olinger's home.
Mr and Mrs Lloyd Sworden of Toledo received many gifts at a Saturday evening shower hosted by Mr and Mrs Orville Dean in Vanlue. Attendees included Hazel Benjamin, June Nonamaker, Cora Grant, Cleo Fisher, Hallie Herman, Velma Fisher, Marjorie Bright, Leone Bright, Helen Daniels, and numerous families from Findlay Vanlue Carey and West of Carey. Home made ice cream and cake were served.
Mr and Mrs Clarence Crist hosted Sunday dinner guests including Mrs Van Baker and sisters Mary Ellen and Ruth. The Evangélical Sunday school Legal Workers class plans a picnic at Ed Criger's home Friday evening with a Bot luck supper. The Tong family and Esther, along with Alice Savidge and Mr and Mrs EM Burson were dinner guests at E S Burson’s home.
On Thursday evening Mrs. George Shuman hosted a dinner near town in honor of her son Clayton's birthday. Assisting were Mrs. H. H. Heck Mrs. J. B ShelJhaas and Miss Ella Anderson. Guests included Melford Heck John Winans James Lindsay Jack Heck Edward Riester Dale Krebs Russell Blue Donald Kurtz Leslie Newcomer Glen Hudson Thomas Hilty Howard Diller and Mr. and Mrs. Co Alspach and H. H. Heck.

Charles Alge Sr of Alge Bros. contractors dies at 11 45 p m at home 803 West Main Cross after two months illness. Survived by wife Elizabeth and nine of ten children, plus eleven grandchildren. Funeral Monday at St Michael's Catholic Church with burial in St Michael's Cemetery. Born Sept 14 1862 in Madison township he lived in the county his whole life. He was a lifelong member of St Michael's parish.
The Dickleman Manufacturing Company sent $10 checks to eight local firemen who fought the For est disaster following a Pennsylvania high class freight train wreck that destroyed Union Station and the Dickleman plant office. Fire Chief Theopolish received a $320 check for leadership. The firemen’s persistence helped save the Dickleman plant.
An unusually large Salem festival crowd attended Tuesday evening despite two showers. The Vanlue band provided music and most attendees stayed until after midnight, marking the event a success in every way.
The 16th Bachar family reunion is scheduled for Sunday August 14 at Carey Park. Lawrence Bachar of Toledo serves as president with Sherman Bachar of Toledo as vice president and Mrs. John Kloepfer of west of town as secretary and treasurer.

Walter Mullholand of Fostoria was sentenced by Judge William F. Duncan to 10 years in the state penitentiary for complicity in the $58 holdup of a Standard Oil filling station on the Findlay road near Fostoria. The sentence was suspended for 30 days to allow action in error in another court. Bond set at $3,000. Mullholand had been free on a $2,000 bond. The jury also acquitted Russell Wickiser of Carey.
The 10th annual Catherine Logsdon reunion gathered 108 members in Upper Sandusky on Sunday July 17. Ralph Brown was elected president, Mrs Maurice Gaster secretary, Louis Logsdon treasurer. Nine births, two weddings and two deaths occurred in the year. Next reunion set for the same venue and program included a group singing of America.
The Gintert and Hickle families set their seventh annual reunion for Sunday August 7 in the Mitten Grove east of town. Mrs Ray Zerby serves as president with Mrs Leo Kinn as treasurer and Mrs A J Ruehle as secretary.
George Ash of West Findlay street suffered a leg cut above the knee while cutting weeds with a sickle. Dr S R Bame attended and five stitches were required to close the gash.
Mrs Wayne Crawford of Vanlue stepped from a porch and fell injuring her left arm at the wrist. She is said to be getting along nicely.
The W B A members and juniors will picnic at Harrison Smith Park in Upper Sandusky on Tuesday August 2 Attendees should meet at the Rest Room at 10 30 AM.
The Slotterbeck family reunion will take place on Sunday August 14 at the North Baltimore park. The event invites all relatives to gather for a day of activities and fellowship hosted by the family.
The No vena opening at the Shrine of Our Lady of Consolation in Carey Ohio is extended to Columbus this year and will occur Sunday Aug 7. Services and the Aug 15 observances will be held with added clergy from the Columbus Diocese. Special trains and reduced fares are planned from multiple cities, with travel times and rates listed.

Attendees included Mrs Grant Tong president along with Mrs Effie Lee Mrs C E Swihart Mrs Harry Earley and many others from Carey Vanlue and Toledo. A joint pot luck dinner was set for Carey park on Thursday Aug 11 with prayers scripture readings and a devotional service.
Paul R. England eldest son of Mr and Mrs Byron T England and Mildred Woodward daughter of Mr and Mrs A L Woodward were married at the Woodward home with immediate families present. Rev W E Grove of the Methodist Protestant church officiated. The groom works in the railway mail service.
Edward Albus raised wheat on Joe Smith’s farm northeast of town. The seven acre field yielded 40 bushels per acre while the grain tested 63 pounds per bushel. Sown in corn stubble around October 1. Mr Albus’ general wheat average was 39 bushels per acre.
T W McClure rents the west room in the Masonic block over Nit rauer’s furniture store and moves his office from the Kroger grocery location.
Amanda township Hancock county school district No 7 reunion announced to be held at Carey Park on Sunday August 28.
