Last Friday afternoon several parcels from the William Helfer estate were sold at public auction by Sheriff Veith following a partition suit. H. J. High bought lot 16 of Dow's addition for 1200 dollars. J. W. Weaks acquired lot 9 of A. J. Frederick's addition for 350 dollars. Mrs. Jessie Long purchased lots 59 and 60 with four houses paying 500 505 800 and 675 dollars respectively. each lot brought less than its appraisement.

Big Four Wreck Near South Street Crossing
A passenger train No. 26 bound for Sandusky collided with a freight train heading to Toledo just north of the South Street crossing. The passenger engine and a box car derailed, both crews escaped unharmed, and the train was moved by 12:15 with the passenger continuing to Sandusky and the freight rearranged on the main.

OSU Botany Professor Investigates Ohio Peat Deposits
Dr Alfred Dachnowski a botany professor from Ohio State University visited the Big Spring Prairie from Thursday to Saturday to study peat deposits for the United States government and the Ohio Geological Survey.
