Social events note a Monday dinner hosted by Mr. and Mrs. J. J. Stoll with guests William Savgid ge of Green Camp and Mrs. Jane Burgon. Sunday dinner guests included Bert Purkey and Miss Mattie Myers of Bellefontaine and Langpilin.
Mr and Mrs R W Txline entertained guests including Mr and Mrs Clarence Clinger of Fostoria and Mr and Mrs L M Remlinger and several Tong family members. Also present were Mr and Mrs Joe Tong of five miles southwest of town, Mrs Grant Tong, Mr Oscar Karg and children Ruth and John Winfield Tong William Karg and Miss Esther Tong at the host home.
William Savidge of Green Camp Mrs. Jane Burson and the Stoll and Savidge families visited Mr. and Mrs. William Baer on North street for a Sunday gathering.
Mr. and Mrs. Herschel High entertained at dinner Sunday with guests Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Gibson of near Berwick, Mr. and Mrs. Homer Swertein and children Lorain Idella Mae and Ronald of McCutchenville, and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Lortz and sons Walter Delmer Fordyce and Herbert.
Members gathered at Mrs. Henry Lortz’s home last Thursday for a business session followed by social time and needlework. Mrs. Susan Lowery and Mrs. Albert Roszman served as hosts. Mrs. Lowery won the wonder box gift from Mrs. George Lowery. The August meeting is planned with Mrs. Dean Wright.
The P R S Club met last Thursday afternoon with Mrs C C Wenner. The secretary Mrs C H Baker read the minutes of the last meeting. A two course luncheon was served. Guests included Mrs Fred Beebe Mrs Kittie Baer Miss Isabelle Lortz and Miss Dortha Jean Venner. The next meeting is set for August 5 with Mrs Homer Wonder.
Members of the St Paul Sunday School Young Peoples Class and friends enjoyed a public supper at Carey Park after an attendance contest. Dale Robison led the winning side with Everett Lee on the losing team. Teachers Hosea Tong helped entertain the losers. Attendees included Rev and Mrs Gallagher and daughter Ruth of Findlay, Mr and Mrs Ray Shull, numerous Misses and Messrs including Dale Robison Harmon Shui Virgil Rader and many others.
Mrs. Houk died at her residence on Finalaystreet after a lengthy thyroid and heart illness. She was 54 years 11 months and 267 days old, born Myrta Chesebrough in Garey. Burial was in Spring Grove cemetery with East ern Star and family attending. Survived by husband W H Houk, children Gertrude Catherine and Harold, sister Mrs George Bish, two grandchildren, and a host of relatives and friends.
The Carey Handle and Lumber Co factory has shut down this week for extensive remodelling work.
Walter Bauman of Tiffin was arrested by local police after found drunk in a car on Vance street. Mayor Byers fined him ten dollars plus costs. a friend was to pay. The car was held. Julian Honore of Tiffin claimed ownership though he had loaned the car to Frank McNamara of Richmond Indiana who drove it to Garey. Marshal O Connor arrested Honore who faced a jury trial and was bound over to common pleas court on liquor charges with a $500 bond failed bail.
Mr and Mrs J A McDaniel and Mrs I G McDaniel with guest Little Jeanne Winters visited Marion Winters in Richwood. Mr Winters remains ill with undulant fever, the states 32nd case as health authorities probe a cow milk source. No deaths have been reported.
Firefighters responded Saturday around 11 45 am to Our Lady of Consolation Church where extensive interior decorating was underway. A quantity of paper in the furnace was set afire by a defective flue causing smoke to pour into the basement. cause not located until units reached the scene.
Mr and Mrs Haloran attended the funeral of Mrs. William Dalton in Middletown. The Patton family has suffered three deaths in six months including Mrs Dalton's 21 year old son who died on Christmas Day and her 18 year old daughter who died in April. Surviving relatives include the father and one son and daughter.
Word arrived Wednesday of the death of Thomas Sapp of Brink Haven. Mr Sapp was an elderly resident of Brink Haven and an uncle of RS Davidson, William Davidson, and Mrs RJ Spitler. RD Davidson will attend the funeral Friday at 10 o clock at Brink Haven.
A Friday morning fire destroyed a four mile west of Cares farm house belonging to Mrs Jerry Wohlgamuth estate. The unoccupied home was under remodeling for occupancy and was insured for 1600 dollars.
Community event at Frenchtown six miles north of Carey features family style all you can eat after 4 PM on Sunday July 21. Tickets cost 60 cents for children. Carey Times offers letter head and envelope printing services as well as other commercial printing.
The second season of indoor outdoor baseball started July 16 with a lengthy schedule listed by league. Managers set rules, player trade rights, and disciplinary actions including banishments for repeated offenses, while volunteers from Methodists Lutherans Legion K of C and others fill roles and announce a long slate of games through September with playoffs in October.
Samuel Kemmerly longtime Wyandot county resident and prominent farmer died Sunday at his residence on West Findlay Street after a brief illness. Born September 18 1831 in Fairfield Ohio he married Elizabeth Harshberger in 1857 and had 13 children six survive including Della Viola Gunther William Alonzo George Addison Charles Elsworth Iva Maud. Funeral was held Tuesday at his residence with Rev W Elmer Bailey officiating. burial in Spring Seip Cemetery.

Seven Ayrshire heifers were sent to as many boys on Wednesday morning to launch the first Ayrshire calf club in the community. Organized by Carl Bell H F Graves T D Romig and the Carey Kiwanis club the calves represent top bloodlines including a granddaughter of a top 1926 producer. Calves came from W P Sehanck of Avon New York. Boys receiving calves are Sherman Mee McKee Mike Vaughn Dean Baker Ralph Derr Earl Oriuns and Wilford Shuman.
A list of newborns reported in the Kirby area includes Kenneth Levaun Warren a son of Mr and Mrs Elf Warren of 211 Tigh Street born Saturday. Also a 10 pound son born to Mr and Mrs Vincent Krupp north of town Monday morning and a 10 pound daughter to Mr and Mrs Verne Heck west of town Saturday morning named Donna Jean. Mrs Schmidt of Kirby welcomed a 7 pound baby girl Saturday morning and Miss Ninaw Hudson of Drsphen? welcomed a baby.
Mrs Abmen Blue and MW Hackney were among those noted in a marriage ceremony held at a residence. The event involved several local residents and took place near North Street with Zoigder of Birst Latorete church officiating.
Beech Grove Aid Society met with Mr. Lewis Kim mel on Thursday. A good attendance shared a noon pat luck dinner. Members sewed carpet rags and Anettine a comfort. Next meeting is set with Uis ok Clark the second Thursday in August.
Crawford chapter No 168 of the Eastern Star will hold a meeting Friday evening at 8 o'clock. Members are expected to attend and participate in the discussed agenda.
