Bird Girl Janette Osborn Packs Quimby’s With Fans

Janetté Osborn wowed crowds at Quimby’s last Monday drawing the largest turnout yet for a picture show. Extra shows were added as fans jammed the foyer and sidewalk. She is slated to perform again tomorrow and at Catholic Hall Tuesday evening under Lutheran Sunday school auspices.

Col Ralph D Cole Recovers After Ohio Campaign Car Crash

Col Ralph D Cole, Republican candidate for governor, resumes campaigning after a near fatal car crash between Logan and Lancaster Saturday night. He escaped with shoulder bruises as the seven passenger car slid into a ditch at 30 miles per hour. Harry Blair of Columbus suffered cuts to legs and face while three companions escaped unharmed.

Salem Triumphs Over Mt Pnenary In Fast Game

Salem defeated Mt Pnenary 7 to 4 in a high scoring contest. J Orians pitched well for Salem, and in the fifth W Orians homered with the bases loaded. The Kirby band played before and during the game before a large crowd. Salem's next game is against Arlington in Arlington.

Betty Weininger suffers collar bone fracture

Four year old Betty Weininger daughter of Mr and Mrs Weininger of near Adrian fractured her collar bone after a grass fall during play. Doctors say she will need a plaster cast for some time and the injury was diagnosed during a Fort Seneca visit with relatives last week.

Thistles Threaten North Street in Town Notice

Public notice urges town officials to act against a large stand of Canadian thistles in the hitching lot on North street. The writer warns the weed could seed the entire town if not cut down or killed promptly, urging swift action.

County Doings From Wyandot and Nearby Towns

Marion Jones of Sycamore died last Wednesday morning. The Wyandot Hardin commissioners met on the county line while the county Sunday School convention is set for October 19 20 in Upper Sandusky. The county fair will feature a pig contest and a race. The Campbell ditch sale in Mifflin township is July 31 and the Greasy Run bridge sale is August 4.

Death of Mrs. Albert Swerlein in Wyandot County

Mrs. Albert Swerlein died Sunday at Mercy Hospital Tiffin after gall bladder and appendix operations. Born Victoria Richardson in Eden township October 18 1852 she was 67 years 8 months and 23 days. She married Albert Swerlein September 7 1873 and leaves five living children plus 20 grandchildren and several siblings. Funeral services were held at her home and Mt Zion church with Rev Charles Rex officiating. Interment followed in Mt Zion cemetery.

Municipal bonds debated for plant funding in 1920 meeting

In an adjourned session Mayor Mc Clure presided as council discussed Ordinance 138 to issue 99000 in bonds at 6 percent for a municipal electric plant. Bills approved include labor, lumber, pipes, gas, and street cleaning. Next meeting set for July 26, 1920.

Child prodigy Janette Osborn to perform at Lutheran benefit

Ohig Traction Co deal on electric current falls through

A representative met with industrial users but the rate was higher than advertised and rebates delayed for two years. The Marton proposition appears promising with a 60 cycle current at an attractive rate. Current would not be available until next spring as a new power plant is being built to supply the line from Marion.

Narrow Escape Under Ford Truck Trap

Last Monday afternoon Truman Updegrall was repairing his Ford truck when he jacked it up with boxes for support. The boxes gave way and the truck fell, trapping him beneath it with about half a ton resting on him before help arrived. He narrowly escaped serious injury.
