Last Thursday afternoon Mrs. J. D. Ewing and her daughter Mrs. R. M. Tuttle of Spencer Iowa hosted a bridge party at the Ewing home on West Main street in honor of Miss Persiss Newhard a bride to be. The rooms were pink and white with white roses on Miss Newhard and pink for the other guests. Delicious Turtles Feast Sparks Townwide Conversation
Last week C. J. Krupp gathered a record number of turtles in Straw's pond near Berry school house. Nine turtles weighed 65 pounds. Chef Mark Helgate turned them into his renowned turtle soup for about 55 guests in John Wherle's room at Krupp meat market.

City Council Meeting Sets Fire Truck Purchase Plan
Monday evening the city council and mayor discussed infantile paralysis communications from the state board of health and published them. John P. Bagley urged American La France motor chemical fire truck and offered to fund a trip to Pittsburg for evaluation. Heck and Spitler named to committee with authority to purchase. The council approved paying $400 for a two and a half acre land parcel adjoining the existing dumping ground and approved several small bills for services and labor.

Councilmen Fox Lutz Talley Welter and Schaefer with Service Director Heller and Solicitor Wagner visited Carey to study its municipal electric lighting. Carey reported 63 white way lamps at 356 candle power and 73 residence lamps at 60 candle power, with the white way completed May 15 1915 at 4500 dollars including transformer underground cable lamps and standards. One half of the lamps were out at midnight and Ohio Light Power offered current at 2.6 cents per kWh, but Carey could operate via water works and sell to private customers at 5.7 cents per kWh saving the city 250 dollars monthly. The plant currently supplies no power to industry though several firms seek it. Some Tiffin officials favored a municipal plant if street lighting bids fail to meet expectations when opened Saturday.

Sold interest changes at Eureka Milling Co
D W Fralick sold his stake in Eureka Milling Co to L B Grindstaff and Dwight Hosterman effective Tuesday morning. Hosterman becomes part owner after serving as miller. Grindstaff previously principal of Sycamore High and newly named Harpster High superintendent, who resigned to take the mill role. Hosterman married Edna Stroup last winter.
