Franciscans on Stamps Exhibit At New Post Office
A stamp collection featuring Franciscan individuals from all orders will be displayed at the new post office for a July 15 dedication. Rev. Angelus Le Fleur, OFM Conv., started the project ten years ago at Our Lady of Carey Seminary and now leads the exhibit with seminarians. The collection spans saints, popes, artists, explorers, and royalty across about 70 countries, with over 600 stamp issues and more than 130 listed Franciscans.

Marine Lance Corporal Richard E. Smiley of Carey Ohio returned June 29 to the Marine Corps Air Station at Cherry Point North Carolina after three weeks with relatives and friends. Dick Smiley, a 1959 Carey High School graduate, enlisted in the Marines in December 1959 and has been stationed at Cherry Point for the past year.

Henry Sheridan Lodge 19 Upper Sandusky driving a 1953 Chevrolet turned left into Point Drive In and struck 1958 Buick Roadmaster driven by Mrs P C Goff 225 W Findlay St. Lodge cited for failure to yield. Goff hospitalized with neck and shoulder injuries expected to 10 days.
Miss Frances Riester Suffers Hip Fracture in Toledo
Miss Frances Riester 3329 Evans ton Court Toledo formerly of Carey fell June 22 at her niece Mrs John Lackey’s home and suffered a fractured hip. A pin was placed and the break was not serious. She had just returned to Toledo after visiting relatives and had earlier fallen May 28 in Fostoria breaking a rib.

Car Rollover Injures Two Local Youths
Two local youths suffered minor injuries when a 1949 Chevrolet rolled over on S R 699 one tenth of a mile south of the village limits. Ronald Patrick 18 and Robert Welsh 17 were in the car with Darrel Craft escaping injury. The driver was cited for reckless operation. The incident occurred around 1 20 a m during a hunting trip. One dog was missing until Tuesday. The Chevrolet was a total loss.

Gunshot Victim's Condition Improves
Christopher Sweet aged 39 of Fostoria was released from Fostoria City Hospital after an accidental gunshot wound suffered June 23 while handling a pistol at a neighbor's home.
