Community groups announce a July 5 picnic at the Fair Grounds with a 75 piece union band led by R H Thue. A day of band music readings and an Ohio Farm Bureau talk by D M Lincoln is planned. Kiwanis and other organizations are invited to attend.
Rev Davis conducts a double ceremony in Augusta Kentucky uniting Mae Bell Hill to Edward Faber and Hazel Mick to Edward Charles Hill. Brothers and sisters marry in one service as Mae Bell Hill Faber and Hazel Mick Hill wed. Both couples plan to reside in Adrian and work in local industries.
A small Tuesday afternoon fire started by children playing with matches behind Lanners grocery at Vance and South streets. The blaze under a balcony smoldered in damp trash, filling the building with smoke and causing about 12 dollars in damage to a window casing and sash.
A daughter was born to Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Smalley east of town on Saturday morning. A daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. Ray Kear of Wharton at MecKitrick hospital in Kenton Friday night. A son born to Mr. and Mrs. Loren Courtad northeast of town Sunday night. A son born to Mr. and Mrs. Harvey Grunditsch on Sycamore Street Sunday. A son born Monday to Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Gregg of the Keller apartments named Tom.
The McCormick Deering Farm All tractor and cultivator demo at Vernon Phillips Roynon farm near Carey drew a good crowd. Attendees were pleased with the machine's performance.
Rev. Aloys M. Fish gave an interesting talk on the constitution of Ohio at the meeting of the Community Club Monday evening. A fine lunch was served during the evening.
Bernard Jacob won the gasoline economy contest by driving the 93 Standard Sedan 6.6 miles on one pint of gasoline, earning $10 in cash.
Davis will entertain the Victory class of the Methodist Sunday school this evening at the home of Mrs. S. R. Bame. Mrs. Bame and Miss Blanche will host the gathering, inviting members of the class to attend.
A mixed dance will be held Friday evening at the Moose hall in Upper Sandusky. Music by Hagerman’s Orchestra. Verne England will call the dances.
Fire discovered Saturday morning at 30 o clock in City Bakery at Vance and Clay streets started in the bake shop away from the oven. Insurance adjusters say origin due to carelessness not wiring. Werner who leased the bakery lived above. Mr Mathern and family in a remodeled section saved. About $1500 worth of new machinery lost. Mathern carried $2000 insurance, Werner lapse. insurer to rebuild for Mathern.
The pastor will preach on The Place of the Lutheran Church in American Liberty during Sunday service. A congregational meeting follows service next Sunday morning. Mid-summer communion is July 11 with infant baptism and church membership offers. Lakeside summer school trip in late July discussed with pastor. Oesterlen Orphans Home offering continues. final contributions urged.
The First National Bank of Carey thanks men who quickly aided during Tuesday's bank robbery. The note commends their fearless, efficient response as a strong community credit and a deterrent to banditry.
Mrs. J. H. Phillips of west of Carey brought a Schmids cherry branch to the Times office. The branch bore large deep red cherries and she notes the tree also has unripe green cherries, creating a striking contrast with the ripe fruit.
The infant son of Mr and Mrs Ralph Thomas of northwest of Carey died shortly after birth last Wednesday night. Funeral services were held at the home Thursday and burial followed in St John’s Cemetery.
The local Moose will hold a picnic at Elm Hills on Sunday July 11. Members unable to reach Elm Hills should notify the secretary for transportation arrangements.
Dr. W. N. Johnson announces his office will remain closed for about two more weeks after a death in the family. He notes the abrupt absence will delay his return.

A First National Bank in Carey was robbed of about $1300 by three armed black men. Citizens, led by A J Frederick, pursued capture within an hour, while hostages I L Culler and H H Heck were secured and kept in a washroom until authorities arrived. The trio fled toward Sutphen's woods after an unsuccessful attempt to access the vault.

A gang of three black robbers fled toward Sutphen woods after using a skeleton key to free bound men. The trio, identified as Tommie Davies, Henry Thomas, and Tom Wright, were later jailed in Upper Sandusky after surrendering amid cheering townsfolk.
Three negro suspects, Henry Thomas Wright and Davies, appeared before Justice Marguer at 3 pm Tuesday. Thomas and Wright pled guilty and sought mercy. Davies pleaded not guilty. Bonds were set at 5000 each,未, and they were jailed when unable to post. The cashier I L Culler identified the two robbers.
