Mother's March Honors Local Chairman and Her Family

Dwayne Lanker, 2 1/2, son of Mr. and Mrs. Ed mond E. Lanker, is pictured as proof of March of Dimes support. Born with schlasia, he received hospital care and extensive treatment aided by the National Foundation and Children's Hospital Birth Defects Clinic. Mrs. Lanker serves as local march chair for Wyandot county with volunteers canvassing, while Police Chief W R Jacob leads the Carey area effort. Donations are sought via downtown containers and mail to the county treasurer, with school children also collecting funds.

Tina Lindsay Chosen for Senior Girl Scout Round-Up

Tina Lindsay 16, daughter of Mr and Mrs James Lindsay northeast of Carey, is selected as a delegate to the Senior Girl Scout Round-Up July 15 to 28 in Farragut Idaho. Cathy Beagle is an alternate. Tina, a Carey High School junior, is among 24 Heritage Trails Council seniors chosen from applications after interviews. Training starts Saturday at Mansfield.

Farm Bureau Women to Meet in Upper Feb. 2

The Wyandot County Farm Bureau Women's Committee February meeting will be held at the Ohio Power Office on S. Sandusky Avenue in Upper Sandusky February 2 at 8pm. Revival at Church of Christ in Carey area

The Church of Christ Christian Union near Carey on Route 568 hosts a revival from January 27 to February 7. Evangelist Rev. John DeMint, Circleville Bible College graduate, will lead gatherings at 7 30 each evening. Public invited. Pastor Rev. R S Bridges presides.

Spring in the Air as Robins Increase in Town

Mr and Mrs Wayne Flack reported a robin in their yard then revised to at least 36 robins arriving in 50 degree weather. The flock was digging for worms as observers counted the birds, though the count later became uncertain.

Firemen Answer Two Calls In One Week

Twelve volunteer firefighters answered an alarm at 10 04 a m Thursday January 21 on St Rt 509 when a tool shed owned by Ohio Engineering Co caught fire An overheated oil stove was blamed for the blaze Motors and equipment were housed in the shed with damage estimated as unknown At 11 20 a m Friday a gas flare up at the Arthur Tackett home on E North Street sent firefighters out again The gas company regulators work caused the flare up but no damage resulted.

Zeek Joins Carey Times Staff

Richard P. Zeek of 131 Center Street Findlay joined the Carey Times staff and began duties January 1. He is married to Connie Rae Struble of Findlay and they have a two year old daughter Robin Kayleen. Zeek is 22, son of Rev. and Mrs. Charles G. Zeek and completed three years in the U. S. Air Force stationed at March Air Force Base California.

Carey Development Corp elects officers and hosts guest speaker

David E. Myers will again head the Carey Community Development Corporation with Ken Stahl as president and Calvin Thome as second vice president. Glenda Smiley was re elected secretary treasurer at the annual dinner at Homestead Restaurant. Carey's fledgling varsity squad has six matches with two wins. Results include Crestline 46-5, Bloomville 39-8, Arcadia 43-6, Ontario 41-8, N Baltimore 23-18, with individual bouts listed. A near capacity crowd at Col onel Crawford School attended a dedication service for Cecil G. Laird. Rev. M. C. Larimore gave the invocation. Past PTA leaders were honored, and a playground tower was announced pending weather. Speakers recalled Laird as a cheerful, faithful friend.

Lincoln Grange Honors 50-Year Members at Anniversary

Lincoln Grange celebrated its 50th anniversary on Sunday January 24 at the grange hall with a basket dinner. Rev Earl Newberg gave the invocation and Master Robert Suber welcomed attendees. Four charter members received 50 year pins and James Ross Ohio State Grange Steward gave an address.

Trudy Heck is named Senior Of The Week at Carey High School. Daughter of Mr and Mrs Charles Heck she lives at 426 W Findlay St and has four years of chorus junior senior ensemble GAA and cheerleading plus Y Teens FHA NHS Latin Club class reporter and Homecoming court membership. She works as a photographer and lifeguard and plans to study physical education in college.

A March of Dimes dinner and dance is planned for February 13 at the Eagles Hall. Dinner runs 6 to 8 30 with dancing to follow. Tickets are sold by any member and all proceeds go to the March of Dimes. Public invited.
