Eye Operation In Findlay Affects Dame Family

Mrs Forest Dame spent Wednesday to Friday in Findlay as her father in law Charles Dame underwent eye surgery at the Home and Hospital. A growth was removed from his right eyeball and sent to New York for analysis. His condition remains serious with loss of sight in the other eye but he is improving.

Merger Push For Carey Tire Stock Sale

James Shuman leads a sale of $150000 in Carey Tire and Rubber Co. stock from an office above the Carey restaurant with salesmen from Francis Quinn Co. of Cleveland. R L Kroesen of Liberty Airless Tire Corp. promotes the merger, aiming to place unsold local stock, amid bids from seven other towns and many idle tire plants. Stockholders view the merger as the company’s salvation, with a limited decision window.

Mrs Catherine Tong Died At Home West Of Carey

Mrs Catherine Tong died Saturday morning at 7 30 at her home four miles west of Carey from dropsy and complications. Funeral services were held Monday from St Pauls church with Rev I H Amore officiating and burial in the church cemetery. Pallbearers were Willis Tong Hosea Tong Grant Tong Joe Tong Sherman Tong and Logan Wahigamuth. She was born November 16 1844 and died aged 76 years seven months and 21 days. She married La R Tong and had eight children Logan Garfield Frank Charles four daughters. Surviving are two brothers James and Sanford Rochester Ind one sister Mrs Elizabeth Morehart Vanlue 21 grandchildren six great grandchildren and many relatives. Her husband died August 1905. Families from distance attended the funeral including Frank Powell Toledo Clayte Custer Marion O L Summers Canton Florence Casey Marion Henry Tong Agosta Logan Tong Marion.

Three Arts concert charms Gilger theatre crowd

Miss Lodema Matzinger a Bellevue girl led a gifted quartet of four young women in a concert at the Gilger theatre under the war mothers organization. She read Within the Law and The Littlest Rebel in shortened form with artistry. The violinist Miss Fike, saxophonist Miss Petre, pianist Miss Forsythe, and soprano announcer Miss Van Horn received praise and audience desire for a return engagement. The ladies, known as the Three Arts, impressed the Norwalk Reflector.

Peoples Telephone Co. Holds Annual Stockholders Meeting

The Peoples Telephone Co. held its annual meeting last Thursday in the Beck block. President G. A. Kemmerley led the session as minutes were read by Secretary J. A. Newcomer. Directors reelected John Snook C. V. Wentz and M. H. Thomas for three years. S. A. Chesebrough resigned. Elza Ehrlich elected to fill the term. The board later reorganized with Kemmerley as president Newcomer as secretary Edward Davidson as vice president and Elza Ehrlich as treasurer.

Explosion in College Lab Burns Yohe Son

Emory Yohe, eldest son of Mr and Mrs J L Yohe, arrived home Monday from Springfield after an accident Tuesday of last week in the Wittenberg College chemistry lab burned his face eyes and ear. Doctors say sight will not be affected and his eyes were bandaged 48 hours.
