Public School News High School Operetta Rehearsals Underway

Rehearsals for the high school operetta Pickles are under way with cast and date to be announced. On Monday evening director Mr Holloway was honored at a party by the junior and senior bands and parents as the band performed selections for their guests.

Temperance Day Observed by Students With Speeches

Students held Temperance Day last Friday in an assembly. Speakers Mr. Fouts and Jack Tracy addressed Marijuana and Alcohol. The orchestra, directed by Mr. Holloway, performed selections.

Carey and Vanlue Boys Battle To Overtime Defeat

Carey Blue and White fall 25 24 after a tense overtime in a junior chapel week recap. Charles Heck announced the broadcast style program and student council selections include Mary Heck and Judson Frederick. In the game Carey trailed 14 3 early, rallied to 24 22, tied 24 24 on Chuck Heck’s late field goal, then lost 25 24 in the second overtime.

Community institute set for February 24 and 25

A Carey library gathering outlined a two day community institute to be held at the high school February 24 and 25 with sessions talks and local talent exhibits. The program features state staff speakers and competitive prizes for farm produce baked goods and needlework with plans for program committee meetings and exhibits to attract attendees from Dalton and Wayne county.

Benefit basketball games for infantile paralysis funds

Three high school games at Upper Sandusky gymnasium on Monday January 30 raise funds for infantile paralysis. Proceeds are split evenly between Wyandot County and Washington Carey and McCutchenville meet in the opener at 7:30 Salem and Harpster play at 8:45 and Wharton versus Upper Sandusky close at 10. Public urged to attend.

Boy Scout Troop 22 Calls Meeting for Reorganization

Troop No 22 plans a meeting at the Col Crawford building Monday evening January 30 to reorganize and discuss business. Clyde Jenkins of Ohio Humus Products Co named Scoutmaster with assistants Richard Frederick, Charles Long and L N Zahn. efforts underway to secure a regular meeting room for Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts.

Karcher Duo Readies California Return After Anaheim Visit

Improvements at Wyandot County Farm Bureau Carey branch

Local manager E. E. Gottfried outlines extensive additions at the Carey branch including a roof elevator 8 by 10 by 16 feet with a cellar, a new 150 bushel per hour warehouse cork shelve, an east side porch with a 14 foot roof, and relocation of the ice house. The 1000 bushel capacity elevator will store shelled corn, wheat and oats to ensure ample grain for feed.

Fr Paul Honored by Shrine Parish in Name Day Celebration

Very Reverend Paul Vollrath rector of the Shrine church was honored at a Name Day event hosted by Father Joseph Herp. A large crowd filled the parish hall for a program featuring an orchestra, readings, songs, tap dances, and musical numbers by parishioners and students, with gifts including a cash purse and spiritual bouquets. Father Joseph thanked supporters and Fr Paul expressed happiness at the gathering.

The annual meeting of Carey Farmers' Co operative Co stock holders is scheduled today at the Catholic hall. Family rushes to Cheyenne Wells amid illness

Dr and Mrs Leonard Myers and son Robert traveled from Cole to Cheyenne Wells early Wednesday due to the critical illness of Dr Myers' mother Mrs Joseph Myers of N Vance street. Charles Myers of Delphos also spends much time with the family.

About 60 couples attended a dance at the Eagles Hall last Thursday evening. Bob Hawks and his eight piece orchestra plus a soloist provided the music. The group will return for another dance sponsored by the Eagles on Tuesday evening February 7.
